Our Wedding

M: We met through our mutual friends Jack and Nancy. It was one of those classic "hey I have this single friend..." type of situations. There was some convenient planning on their end of Nick hanging out with Jack on the same night I was hanging out with Nancy. However. It worked. I think it was Jack who gave my number to Nick and we exchanged a few texts the next day. We very quickly had a first date on the calendar at a coffee shop (very on brand), and everything just sort of "clicked". Also 10/10 would recommend dating someone in the fall. It made for the absolutely most cozy first few dates. N: The way we met sounds classic on paper, but it really was a lot of twists and turns to get there. It took one of my best friends (Jack) working at a random church in the Midwest, meeting Morgan and her friends there, him moving back to NJ, them moving out here years later, and then us finally being introduced at a random night of DND at Jack's house. So a classic setup, but in quite a roundabout way.

How We Met

M: Ok, so Nick like... absolutely nailed our engagement. We went on a date to Harmony Tea Room for a tea sitting. I didn't think anything of it because we have done things similar to this before. We get through an entire two hour date. Like. Completely normal, not one drop of sweat. Once the sitting time is done, everyone else in the restaurant is getting their checks and leaving, except us. At this point, I still had no idea what was going on. Eventually, we are the only ones left at a table, talking about how our check is taking forever. Then, our waitresses walk out with two gorgeous bouquets (which I didn't realize til after were made up of my favorite flowers), and then Nick said a lot of very very kind things and proposed! Obviously I said yes. Then he planned a dinner at my house with the "Stralonith" gang and Art. It couldn't have been more perfectly "us". N: I love planning these types of things... and it made me really happy that it went well. I had a million ideas of how I wanted to propose, but I eventually landed on one that felt the most 'us'. One of our favorite ways to mutually enjoy a date is to go out for some tea together, so I was essentially looking for an extra special version of that. I called quite a few different spots to see if they'd be able to accommodate what I had envisioned, and landed at Harmony Tea Room. The day before, I went to the florist to pick up her favorite flowers, then dropped them off at the tea place and worked out the details of the proposal with the staff. On the day of, the staff were GREAT; it was like they'd never met me before. It was a really special day and would have been one of my favorite dates we've been on even if it wasn't the day I was proposing. I kept my cool the whole time, and finally, the proposal went off basically without a hitch. Some minor things... like, forgetting to actually put the RING on her finger because I was so focused on the other details! But, we made it. She said yes, and here we are!
