3.5-mile Cliff Walk (some areas can be a HIKE). Panoramic ocean views, crashing waves and the perfect amount of sea breeze on one side and stunning, century-old, Gilded Age mansions on the other.
This is where Tom popped the question!
Beautiful mansion on a cliff! Reservations for dinner inside may be difficult to get, it's very fancy, and spendy - BUT if you want to experience the location, go any time and enjoy a drink on the large green lawn (first come, first served for the Adirondack chairs!). You will have to park in the grass lot you see as you pull in and walk less than 1/4 mile to the mansion. If you want to see the lighthouse, follow the trails through the trees and you will get there quickly!
Couldn't recommend this enough! Fun way to see the mansions and learn a bit about the local history from the water. They do morning mimosa cruises, evening wine cruises, or just basic tours at all times of the day.
Can get chilly, bring a jacket!
So many mansions to visit/tour. Most are self guided and can be as long or quick as you would like. Tom and I visited the Vanderbilt mansion and it was amazing!!
One of the first libraries in the US! Self guided, free and a short walk from downtown Newport.
We know, we know.. why would we go to Newport and get hotdogs? Well, they aren't just hotdogs, they are Wally's Weiners! Tom and I went here on a whim one evening and shared a basic dog (no toppings, because TOM).
They have a full service bar with beer (try the Narranganssett), wine, and cocktails. We were told the Espresso Martini is one of the best in town! Go upstairs for a cool second bar/more seating!
Morgan's favorite!
Very casual setting for all seafood. Raw Bar with oysters, little necks, shrimp cocktail, and so much more. I think we went here 3+ times! My dad and I even got Tom and my mom to eat a rockefeller oyster :)
If you want to hang out with Jeff + Patti, this is where they will be. Fun little indoor/outdoor small bites + drinks spot. My dad will likely be at the bar, people watching and drinking a Narragansett while my Mom joins him. Don't forget a coozie, right Dad? ;)
The Wharf has tons of restaurants and bars to stop into ranging from very casual to fine dining. Fun to walk through at all times of day to see different events/vendors and also the large yachts and boats coming in the dock!
Tom and I ate at Bowen's 22 and it did not disappoint!
Tom's Favorite dessert spot in Newport - we only went 3 times!
If you wanted to take a swing at making your own fresh lobster, you can buy live lobsters here!
They also have made lunches available to go.
