Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Interested in seeing the Centennial state from 14,000 feet, but don’t want to spend a full day hiking? Look no further than the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Originally opened in 1890 and completely refurbished in 2021, the Cog Railway allows passengers an opportunity to experience the sights Pikes Peak has to offer in a unique and historic way. Once you’ve reached the summit, you can spend time at the Peak’s new visitor center, where you can taste their one of a kind high-altitude donuts, shop for souvenirs, and take in the stunning views that inspired Katharine Lee Bates’ “America the Beautiful” prior to riding back down the mountain. Note that reservations are required, so make sure to buy tickets early!

If your travel plans allow, we highly recommend driving the scenic 1.5 hours west of Denver to checkout Morgans hometown of Frisco, also where the bride and groom first met! With a historic main street full of great restaurants, bars, and outdoor activities, Frisco is a fantastic place to visit in the early fall. Just keep in mind the elevation is over 9000 ft!

Consistently voted one of the best zoos in the Nation, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a must for those who want to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most amazing wildlife. Here, you can feed Giraffes, walk amongst Wallabyes, and see dozens of amazing animals and exhibits! We highly recommend making reservations, as tickets sell out fast.

National Museum of World War II Aviation

Manitou Incline

For those looking for an athletic challenge, look no further than this hike, a staple of Colorado Springs! Gaining 2,011 feet in just under a mile of hiking, the Incline will undoubtedly test you both physically and mentally - but don’t fret, as the view at the end will make it all worthwhile. Note that for this hike, reservations are required.

For those coming from low elevation, bring plenty of water and take your time, as altitude sickness can easily set in on this hike.
