My mom taught Trey how to write his name in her very first pre-k class 20+ years ago.
One day we were walking through a store in Covington, and we ran into Trey and his mom. I remember my mom telling me who Trey was and how she knew him.
Not long after, Trey showed up at one of our youth services at Central. I got the nerve to go up to him and say, "I know you...you're Trey Barfield." I scared him, and he thought I was just a weird red-headed girl. We were in the 6th grade, and I loved him...lol.
He dealt with me from time to time throughout middle school. Finally, I broke through, and we actually became friends.
In the 8th grade, Trey Barfield kissed me. P.S. This is also when I found out he couldn't walk and talk on the phone at the same time.
Sounds great, right? HAHA! We enter high school... I am over him. Now he's in love with me.
Throughout those 4 years we remained friends and "dated" every once in a while. Once I went off to college, we stayed in touch with the occasional, "Hey! You good?" and "Happy Birthday" text.
Fast forward to January 2023, Trey posted a picture with his new puppy, Bentley. What a chick magnet...We have been talking every day since.
I asked Trey to be my "friend" at "Bring a Friend" Sunday at the church. We have been with each other almost every weekend since.
10 months later, Trey asked me to marry him.
