How They Met

Morgan's Side of the Story

Ben and I went to high school together. We both ended up taking a Love, Marriage, and Family class our senior year in order to fulfill our religion requirement. My sister met her husband in this same class in high school, so I went in looking for my dream husband. I walked in and had no clue who Ben was but I decided to sit closeish to him just in case. When it came time to match who you would like to marry, I listed Ben as like 5th because I still wasn't sure. I based my decision on the fact that if I did not know Ben then he must be in smart kid classes and therefore would be a good partner to get work done in a timely manner. Turns out it was a match because Ben did not have a preference for his ladies. I will never forget the first time our husbands were revealed and Ben wasn't even there so I did the dream proposal assignment solo and decided it would be a long semester. Ben pulled through though and became someone that I could work with and started to even have a *tiny* crush on.

My crush on him grew a little bigger when we had our first egg child together and he buckled her into his truck with an actual seatbelt. I still get a soft heart when I think of it. The Christmas dance was right around the corner and I had just pinky promised my best friend that we would go together because I was convinced Ben would not be asking me. As soon as I sat down for class, Ben walked in and handed me our egg baby container, and told me to check on her. In my head, I was thinking I was going to hurt him because he JUST walked in with it. He should know how she is doing! I was sure he cracked her. I turn to him and tell him, "....she is fine." Closed the container. All is well. He told me to double-check. TURNS OUT he was asking me to the dance through a "egg"cellent pun. I of course said yes. We do not talk about the dance because I was too nervous to dance with Ben and when we were hanging out with our group after, he refused to sit by me.

He persevered and we started texting a little more and he invited me to hang out over break. I, unfortunately, had a run of sickness and had to keep declining. He finally got me to go to a New Years' party at his best man's house and the rest is history.

Ben's Side of the Story

Morgan and I first met during English class sophomore year of high school, not that either of us realized this until over a year into our relationship. Our first real time we met each other was in our Love, Marriage, & Family class during senior year of high school. We were able to be matched up and "married" in the class and work with someone else on all our assignments. Though neither of us actually knew each other, we both put each other on our yes list that we would be okay being partners with (I had her higher on my list than she had me on hers even though I had no specific order, only yes or no's). Over the semester we awkwardly got to know each other more but neither really knew if the other liked them as well. We had to be parents towards the end of the semester to an egg baby. This is when we both started to feel that we liked each other. I finally worked up the courage to ask her to the Christmas Dance by sliding a note into our egg baby's carrier and having her look at the egg in class (to which she thought I damaged the egg and almost missed the note). Thankfully she said yes. From there we had our first date on New Year's at the Theriots and a few more after that until we made it official later that January. We have had many adventures travelling to Nashville (one of our favorite cities), doing escape rooms, spending time at the lake, and making long distance work for 6 years. We are extremely excited to finally start this new chapter in our lives together!
