Our story starts way back where most of you may not have guessed…
It was late Junior high for Cody and early High school for Me. I was the big sister of his hockey teammate. A little time went by and we both noticed each other. Cody’s Freshman year and my Sophmore year we began dating. (Little secret I was his first girlfriend. It was quite an honor!) We dated for about a year, and as most High school relationships, it sadly came to an end.
Fast forward 6 years…Cody was in Kansas going to school, and I had just become a nurse. My family was at Cody’s parent’s house one evening and told me that I should stop by. At first I was nervous he might be there, but then I thought “He’s out of state for school, no way he could be there, and it doesn’t have to be awkward.” To my surprise, I walk in the door, and he is right in front of me, sitting at the kitchen table. Needless to say we reconnected, and dated long distance for about 5 months. Unfortunately, timing didn’t seem right for us, ending that chapter. We figured that was it.
Another 9 years went by, and for some reason, God started annoying me to reach out to him for like a solid six months straight! Finally, in April of 2023, I reached out to him with a simple message on Instagram, wishing him well. I had no expectation of anything other than that would get God to leave me alone. Clearly He had other plans. Little did I know… Cody and his friend, Matt, were having a conversation that included me 20 minutes before I reached out. This lead to Cody responding! We began talking platonically followed by seeing each other at his sister’s graduation party. After that, we talked and reconnected. We realized throughout the years each one of us had the other on their minds off and on. Come to find out we still loved each other, and desired to be with one another. One thing led to another, we dated for a year, got engaged, and here we are ready to say vows to never let go this time! If this isn’t proof of God’s plans for us being greater than we ever could ask, I don’t know what else is. Only soulmates can be chosen by God, and Cody and I couldn’t be more grateful that we are each other’s!
