Sway (Modern Thai)

Sway is a modern&nbsp;Thai restaurant - one of our favorite restaurants&nbsp;in town.&nbsp;It's located south of downtown in the South Congress neighborhood. They do not take reservations for parties under 10 so expect to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour if you go during peak time. The best dishes are "tiger cry" steak (spicy),&nbsp;"blue crab" fried rice, and "jungle" curry (spicy).

Veracruz All Natural (Tacos)

1704 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702

Delicious&nbsp;tacos made in a food&nbsp;truck located on the east side. Order a migas taco on flour&nbsp;and a steak taco on corn. Don't forget to get a giant Agua Fresca (Mango or Strawberry).&nbsp;

South Congress Cafe (Brunch)

1600 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

Amazing brunch and great cocktails. They do not take reservations ahead of time so&nbsp; expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour to get&nbsp;seated but thankfully it is in the heart of the South Congress shopping district so you have the opportunity to browse through some local boutiques.

Texas Honey Ham (Breakfast Tacos)

3736 Bee Cave Road, 6, West Lake Hills, TX 78746

This is our favorite breakfast taco joint. It is located in the upscale Westlake neighborhood and is residential in nature. Order an egg, baked potato hash, and honey ham taco (with the&nbsp;orange and green salsa mixed). When you order, tell the employee&nbsp;you've never visited before and that you'd like to&nbsp;try the free sampler platter (10+ delicious sides).

Terry Black's (BBQ)

1003 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704Great BBQ with no line to stand in. You can order a variety of meats as you pay by the pound. The best meats here are the beef rib, brisket (ask for moist and dry to try both types), and sausages.

Franklin (BBQ)

900 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702 

The most famous BBQ in Austin. The only chance you have at getting to taste some of this&nbsp;BBQ is by getting in line around&nbsp;8am&nbsp;on the weekends. Get there early or you will not get the brisket.&nbsp;People typically make a day out of it and bring a cooler of beers with them.&nbsp;

Salty Sow (Classy American)

1917 Manor Rd, Austin, TX 78722Braised, poached & stewed dishes, plus cocktails & craft brews, are served in a laid-back setting. The best time to go here is during happy hour (4:30pm to 6:30pm every day) as it's affordable and delicious. Get the pork belly taco, honey rosemary dipped fried chicken, and duck fat fries.

Matt's El Rancho (Tex-Mex)

2613 S Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78704 Famous tex-mex restaurant that is a South Austin staple. The queso and fajitas are must-haves. They do not take reservations so expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour.<a href="http://mattselrancho.com/">http://mattselrancho.com/</a>

Casino El Camino (Burgers)

517 East 6th St. Austin, TX 78701Casino El Camino is located on 'dirty' 6th street and offers a very divey atmosphere with arguably the best burgers in town. This is a bar with a small kitchen in the back. For those with a taste for spice in their life, we recommend the Amarillo Burger (3/4 pound hamburger, serrano chiles, jalapeno jack cheese, and cilantro mayonnaise).&nbsp;

Whistler's (East 6th craft cocktail bar)

1816 East 6th Street Austin, TX 78702 One of our favorite east side craft cocktail bars. During&nbsp;weekend nights, they have a small Mezcal bar located upstairs where you can take a few classy Mezcal shots.&nbsp;There is an amazing food truck called Thai-Kun on-site. There are many breweries within 4 blocks and is in the heart of the East side activity

The Side Bar (Dive Bar on Red River Street)

602 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701 Our favorite dive bar.&nbsp;Very heavy pours. Close to lots of live music.

Barbarella (Dance Club)

611 Red River Street, Austin, Texas 78701 No frills dance club located on the very interesting Red River bar&nbsp;street close to Dirty 6th. Most popular time to go is on Thursdays during 80's theme night. Always packed after midnight and likely will charge a cover but worth it.

Roosevelt Room (Downtown Craft Cocktails)

307 West 5th Street, Austin, Texas 78701 Roosevelt Room is a mixologist (expensive) craft cocktail&nbsp;experience&nbsp;- expect to get a great&nbsp;drink for ~$15 each and be unfamiliar with at least half the ingredients in your drink. The menu is organized by decades&nbsp;and their bar staff are walking beverage encyclopedias.&nbsp;Reservations are strongly recommended in advance (<a href="https://therooseveltroomatx.com/reservations">https://therooseveltroomatx.co...</a>).

Craft Pride (Rainey Street Craft Beer Bar)

61 Rainey St, Austin, TX 78701 Located on the bustling Rainey St (think&nbsp;old houses turned into bars for yuppies), Craft Pride is one of our favorites given it's chill vibe and huge selection of craft brews. There is also a Detroit-style pizza truck called Via 313 on the back patio. If you order pizza, get the "Cadillac" (Gorgonzola, Figs, prosciutto di Parma, Parmesan, Balsamic Glaze)...it will blow your mind.&nbsp;

Very nice 4 star hotel overlooking Lady Bird Lake and the famous South Congress bridge. You should be able to see the bats fly from the bridge at dusk which is a very cool sight. Expect to pay $350 to $400 per night.

Austin Marriott South is located in South Austin. Expect to pay ~$150 per night.&nbsp;No restaurants or bars are within walkable distance but is probably a $10 Uber to downtown.

Austin City Tour and Food Truck Dinner (hosted by Austin Detours)

Texas Rowing Center is the most accessible and reliable stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking in Lady Bird Lake (the lake just south of downtown). It costs $15 to $20&nbsp;/ hour. Great way to be active and experience the beautiful weather.&nbsp;

Deep Eddy Vodka has blown up across the US. Go visit the distillery out in the hill country (25 minute drive from downtown). They have good variety of cocktails&nbsp;and a nice outdoor space to hang out. Food truck is usually on-site as well. Open&nbsp;Thu, Fri, Sat: 11am – 5pm &&nbsp;Sun: 12pm – 5pm.

Deep Eddy Vodka Distillery

Jester King Brewery is a farmhouse brewery known for its numerous sour beers. Not everyone loves the sour focus, but it's still a very cool area. They offer non-sour beers as well.Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza is on-site and is&nbsp;absolutely delicious.&nbsp;They host public tours and tasting room hours on Fridays from 4-10pm, Saturdays from 12-10pm, and Sundays from 12-7pm. Free brewery tours are available Fridays at 6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.

Jester King Brewery

One of the best views overlooking the entire city and&nbsp;Lake Austin portion of the Colorado river. It's very close to downtown and is near some of the biggest and most luxurious&nbsp;homes&nbsp;in town.&nbsp;It's free and a short hike up about 100 stairs. This isn't a formal hike and is really just a picture opportunity.

Mount Bonnell Lookout Point

Roll across Austin in style on a Segway (watch our for cliffs).&nbsp;Costs $49 to $69 for a 1.5 hour to 2.5 hour tour.&nbsp;

Segway Tour

30 minute free tours at the Texas State Capital (Mon.-Fri. 8:30-4:30p.m.; Sat. 9:30-3:30p.m.; Sun. noon-3:30 p.m.). Everything is bigger in Texas.
