You know that old saying that two ships at night only cross once? Yeah that luckily didn't happen to us. We met briefly at the UNO library while waiting for a meeting with our advisors. We just exchanged smiles and shy glances then went our separate ways. Fortunately, a few months later my mom signed me up for this weird UNO summer camp, and Mya signed up (of her on volition weirdly) as well. We were shipped off to the middle of nowhere for a few days with little cell reception, so we were all forced to mingle with the other incoming students. Fortunately, we were placed in the same group and in a short time we started talking. We were only at the camp for a few days, but by some miracle we were both enticed by another camp that started the day that one ended. We spent the next week talking back and forth. Mya dropped numerous hints that I...did not pick up on, and before we knew it we were dating.
The nearly six years together have been amazing. We supported each other through our undergraduate degrees, and now Mya supports me in my medical school career. I am so proud of her, she works so hard as an engineer and I could not imagine my life without her. We have known that marriage was coming for many many years, and we are both so excited to spend the rest of our lives together. We look forward to seeing everyone on December 28th!!
