Our Wedding

Nathan and Mykalanne met in 2016 at a Dairy Queen in Allendale, MI for a YoungLife event. Throughout the next few years, they saw each other in passing at various Campus Ministry events and were friendly, but never close. Nathan messaged Mykalanne on Instagram in early 2021 telling her that she was a superhero after one of her famous "Student Quotes" stories. A month or two later Mykalanne reached out thinking she saw Nathan in downtown Grand Rapids, and wanted to say "hi." Eventually they started talking about Nathan's graduate research on birds and Mykalanne said she would be happy to go birding with him to help with the research. Nathan (being a dingus) thought she was actually interested in bird watching and said that they should wait a few months until fall. He realized his mistake a day later and decided to see if Mykalanne wanted to walk around a park later that week. Their first date was at Upper Macatawa Natural Area (only a couple miles from the wedding venue). They started dating (officially) on July 27, 2021. One thing led to another and Nathan proposed to Mykalanne at the same park as their first date on November 4, 2022.
