Have you ever heard the cliche saying “when you stop looking for something, you’ll eventually find it?”
That is the story of how Nancy met Wesley.
One evening during the Great Pandemic of 2020 (as we will refer to it to our future children), both Nancy & Wesley were on a dating app called Hinge (but should probably be renamed Unhinged). The app asked Nancy the question, “What does your perfect date sound like?”
Nancy wrote: “I want to drink margaritas and watch Will Ferrell movies. Then we can prank call your boss.”
Wesley loved that response. He worked up the courage and messaged her saying “So... when can we do this?”
On their first date, Wesley made a delicious Mexican dinner complete with margaritas (tequila was BOGO that day) and the rest is history. 🌮🍺
The real story isn’t about how we met, but how we grew more in love as time went on and continue to keep falling in love with each other each and every single day.
We both did not expect to meet our soulmate so unexpectedly, but when we finally did, we realized that sometimes the best things in life are worth holding out for.
Every past mistake, every heartbreak, every bad date, every lonesome evening, led us to each other.
We sometimes get sad thinking about how long it took for us to finally find each other, but we realize that we weren’t ready before.
The stars truly aligned when we were both ready to give and receive all of our love- and not a minute before.
The best love stories aren’t always these grandiose fairytales where one of the main characters saves the other one from a burning building.
Sometimes it’s just about two people who kept looking for love in all the wrong places- and when they finally just let the universe work its magic, it happened.
For us, love meant being honest and secure with ourselves and taking a leap of faith to trust someone who owes you nothing. But in return, they'll do the same.
Love is a giant sacrifice, but the reward is a best friend that cares for you as much as you do for them. It’s a warm spot on the other side of the bed and a level head to help you when you can't seem to balance your own.
And when we finally realized that true love wasn’t something that needed to be forced nor is it some perfect thing that falls from the sky, but standing before a person and seeing all of their flaws yet all you can manage to see is their perfection - well, that is when the real fairytale begins.
