Our Wedding

After 3 years practicing in Indiana as a pediatrician, Nassali started what seemed like an impossible task to find a new job. She had interviews in Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles when a position in Phoenix was suggested. To get a sense of what the city had to offer she took a chance and downloaded Hinge and swiped right. DeAndre was a busy second year PhD student at Arizona State University who was working hard but still missing that special someone. He had no idea what he was getting into with one swipe. Long story short, the two met when Nassali was interviewing for her current job. The date went way better than expected and the two continued to talk. With what could only be divine intervention Nassali's best offer was the job in Phoenix and the two found themselves in a long distance friendship turned relationship until she moved a few months later. Together DeAndre and Nassali have built a life in Phoenix with their fur baby Jersey. They are looking forward to celebrating the next chapter with you all!

We would recommend staying in downtown New Orleans so you can explore the city. Though we will not be doing a specific room block, there are tons of hotel options in the downtown New Orleans area, as well as airbnb and room share options. Shuttles busses will be leaving from the NOPSI Hotel listed below for those plannning to use them for wedding day. It is a great option for stay offering competitive prices for the area. Shuttle pick up will be 4pm on 3/28/2026. Please plan accordingly

The wedding venue is about 45 minutes to 1 hour outside of downtown New Orleans. We will have a shuttle leaving from the NOPSI Hotel at 4pm and returning to the hotel on the day of the wedding. Please indicate if you will be using the shuttle when you RSVP. If you do not confirm you would like a seat we can not guarantee availibility the day of. For those local or who will be renting a car there is complimentary parking at the venue. Of note: ride share services are available but may be limited after the event.

If you have not reached out and confirmed with Nassali or DeAndre that you are coming to Uganda please do so as soon as possible. The deadline to let them know is September 15, 2025. A travel package has been arranged for guests that includes all travel and lodging from 12/28-1/2 with available extension as needed for those interested. The Itinerary for the group as planed includes:12/28/2025: Kampala arrival12/29/2025: Travel to Mbarara (4 hour drive)12/30/2025: Full day Kwanjula Event!12/31/2025: Safari day at Queen Elizabeth Park ( 2 hour trip from Mbarara)1/1/2025: Return to Kampala ( 4 hour drive)1/2/2025: Itinerary ends, free to explore Kampala and surrounding areas or travel freely. There are multiple activities to do within Kampala. We would be happy to give some suggestions. How to Get There

Our Kwanjula will be held in Mbarara Uganda. The closest airport is Entebbe Uganda (EBB). Multiple airlines are available including Delta/KLM, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airlines, Emirites and Kenya Airlines depending on where you are coming from.

Vaccinations and Medications

Yellow fever vaccine is required for entry. Please reach out to your doctor or your local health department who will be able to share availability for that vaccination. Cost can vary depending on where it is available.
 
You should discuss Malaria prevention (prophylaxis) with your doctor as well, as malaria is prominent in the area. There are options of medications you can take before, during, and after the trip to prevent this.

Visa Requirements

To enter Uganda you will need a Ugandan or East Africa Tourist Visa is required to enter Uganda. You need a two way ticket itinerary, a passport photo, yellow card and passport demographic (bio) page to apply. Below is the link to the site. The cost for a visa which we recommend is $100. We recommend applying for the visa a month before you travel to allow adequate time. The ceremony will be December 30th, 2025. Please plan to arrive by 12/28/25 as it will require a day of travel to get to Mbarara from the Entebbe/ Kampala area

DRESS CODE

The dress code for the kwanjula is traditional Ugandan wear or cocktail formal wear with dresse length below the knee for women and regular suits for men.
 
Traditional Ugandan outfits are called Gomesis (pictured below). This or any african print dress would be appropriate.
 
For men, traditional Ugandan outfits called Kanzus (pictured below) are worn. An african print shirt with dress pants can also be worn.
 
If interested in wearing a Gomesi or Kanzu) please be sure to let us know so we can assist in getting the clothing ready for you!

Our Kwanjula will be outdoors under a tent. December weather in Uganda is warm with highs typically around 80&#176;F and lows around 60&#176;F.
