Mid-century style runs deep at the Foundry, a hip boutique hotel in Athens’s historic Psirri district — the building, constructed in 1930, originally served as a type foundry, and later as a printing house and a cultural center. Today, it’s home to a collection of industrial-chic suites with wood or terrazzo floors, high ceilings, large steel-framed windows, exposed stone walls, and a mix of vintage and modern furnishings. No two are the same, but all are apartment-like with open floor plans and features like fully equipped kitchens, built-in workspaces, and marble-lined bathrooms. Ground-floor units open onto private garden areas, while loft suites have two levels of living space connected by a floating staircase. Up on the lushly planted rooftop terrace, gourmet pizzas and Greek wines are served with a striking view of the Acropolis.
