Ioannina is a beautiful city with loads of things to see.
Island
The island in the lake of Ioannina is the one of only two islands in a lake that are inhabited in Greece. It has a long history that starts from the 13th century and played a big part in the first world as Ali Pasha used the island to supply the castle while it was under his ownership. Ali Pasha was killed at the island 1822, chased by the Ottoman army. There are seven monasteries that can be visited in the island, along with the house of Ali Pasha, where you can witness the traditional architecture of Ioannina.
There are boats that can take you to the island from Ioannina lake front

Castle of Ioannina
The castle of Ioannina is the fortified old town of Ioannina. Early 21st-century excavations furthermore have brought to light fortifications dating to the Hellenistic Period (4th–3rd centuries BC), the course of which was largely followed by later reconstructions of the fortress in the Byzantine and Ottoman periods. The castle is located on the southeastern corner of the modern city, on top a rocky promontory jutting into Lake PamvotisThe castle is dominated by its two citadels, the northeastern citadel, now dominated by the Ottoman Aslan Pasha Mosque and the much larger southeastern citadel, also known as Its Kale.
The Silversmithing Museum
The Silversmithing Museum is located in the Castle of Ioannina, and more specifically in the western bastion of the north-eastern acropolis (Its Kale). It occupies the bastion’s two levels, as well as the adjacent building of the old cookhouses.
Its objective is to preserve our knowledge of Epirote silversmithing and to disseminate information about its technology to the wider public. Also, to tie in this technology to the social context of the period during which it was developed and flourished.
