Our journey began in June, 2017 at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, where we both were starting emergency medicine residency. From the moment we met, we clicked, and our friendship grew over the years. Despite staying friends initially, our paths aligned in a unique way in 2019.
In 2019, both of us found ourselves single and living closer after Natalie moved into the city. We started hanging out more often, enjoying each other's company and realizing there was something more between us. Even though Tyler had plans to move away from Chicago for work after graduation in the summer of 2020, we decided to see where things would go.
When COVID hit, we took a significant step forward. Natalie moved in with Tyler and his two roommates, Jake and Housam. Living and quarantining together during the pandemic while working regularly in the hospital brought us closer. We supported each other through the challenging times and discovered more about each other.
After graduation, Tyler moved to Las Vegas, and we managed a long-distance relationship for a while. Traveling to Vegas, Chicago, and many other destinations, we established a strong relationship and knew we wanted a future together. During that time, Natalie picked up skiing, a hobby that quickly became one of our favorite pastimes.
After about 1.5 years of long distance, opportunities arose for us in Denver. We both moved there with our respective dogs, Lottie and Zosyn, and found our first house together. Denver has been the perfect home for us and we could not be happier to be close to the mountains, skiing and Tyler's family.
On January 5, 2024, Tyler decided it was time to propose. In true Aronstein form he knew a ski day in Vail would be the time and place. On a powder day and with the stunning Game Creek Bowl as our backdrop, he asked Natalie to marry him. She said yes, despite the ski patrol yelling at us because the lift was closing. They skied down and met their families and friends at Garf's for one of their favorite après ski parties to date.
As we began planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be in the mountains. As we explored further, we quickly realized there is no place we cherish more than Colorado and its ski towns. Although we considered eloping to the Mediterranean, we chose to have our engagement photos taken in Lake Como instead and proceed with planning a mountain top wedding in our home state.
Aspen has been one of our favorite places to visit in Colorado. We have some great memories there, from an unforgettable backpacking trip in the Maroon Bells to an excellent ski day at Aspen Highlands. We also enjoyed seeing some of our favorite DJs (Kygo and Gryffin) play at the Palm Tree Festival in Aspen. These experiences made Aspen the ideal location to celebrate our love and commitment to each other.
