We met in Ocala, Florida where we were somehow, by the grace of God, placed in the same preschool class at First Steps. Our friendship was never prearranged by our parents in fact, they didn't even meet until we became the best of friends.
At five years old, our parents considered us soulmates. We basically did everything with one another. From trick-or-treating to driving around in our little electric Jeep wrangler, there was never a time we wanted to be apart.
At the turn of the century, Natalie moved with her family to Connecticut which at the time, seemed like a world away. We lost contact and we hadn't even realized that we had also lost our best friend. It was twelve years before we would see each other again.
Over a decade later, Natalie stumbled upon an address book on a rainy summer day. For whatever reason, she immediately thought of Austin and found his name, looked him up on Facebook, and took the risk of messaging him without having a single mutual friend. She told him that in two weeks, she'd be in Florida visiting her dad, only to find out that he still lived just a few miles from her father. Our families met for dinner and well, the rest is history. We've been together ever since that day.
After one year of long distance relationship while we finished out high school, Natalie moved back to Ocala, Florida for college. After a few months, Austin got accepted to The University of Florida and Natalie to The University of Central Florida.
After four more years of long distance while pursuing our degrees, we finally got to be together for good. We moved to Fort Lauderdale and found careers that we both love. On August 11th, Austin proposed on the beach surrounded by our closest friends and family. Obviously, Natalie said YES!
