Natalie & Matthew

Hi, Matt here. Nat always says I tell this story best, and you're here on our website for a reason, so you're getting the longwinded version. So sit down, grab a drink and your favorite snack while I tell the story about how I met the love of my life.
So it was an early-spring afternoon in March of 2021. The weekend before St. Patty's Day, to be exact. I was hopelessly single as my roommates and friends would say, when my roommate (and now groomsman) Preston said, Hey man, let's go out tonight! He was heading back to Terre Haute, IN where he grew up and also where we went to college together. So I bucked up, changed into something mildly green, and we headed out.
He and I started at Sonka's, a small Irish bar in Terre Haute, where we had a few beers to get warmed up and ready to go for the evening. Following that we headed to the Copper Bar, where we had a few more beers, but also turned the tide for the evening. We probably did a shot or two, but had to do the St. Patty's Day tradition of an Irish Car Bomb shot. Following that, Preston said to me, Hey man, I do not care where we go tonight, but don't let me end up at the Bally.
So naturally, we drank too much and wondered over to the Ballyhoo Tavern. This next part is where Natalie comes in.
So at this point, Preston and I are feeling pretty good. We walk in, grab a drink, and he spots a table of his fraternity brothers. We all meet, catchup, and I listen to all of them ramble on about things I have no clue about, until all the guys got up and we wonder to the table over from ours. There's these three girls just sitting there with their drinks. So we walk up, try and spin up a conversation about whatever will not get us kicked out from the table. Then one of the girls asks us to stay because this creepy guy kept coming back to talk to them. Sitting at the end of this tiny bar top was this beautiful, bright eyed girl in a bright orange NASA themed shirt. I remembered the shirt specifically because in the Bally, they have black lights in the frontend of the bar and her shirt was the brightest thing in the room.
For some unknown reason, she kept talking to me. I said all of the basics that one says when they're trying to talk to a pretty college girl. Hey what do you go to school for? Where are you from? You name it. She not only answered every question, but asked me them in return. The bar was so loud, but we were the only two people in that bar. I am not sure how long we talked for but when her friends said they were leaving, she quickly said, Hey add me on Snapchat. From that moment on, I was hooked.
The next part of the story is brief, but ultimately how we got together. So after that night at the bar, we did not talk much. Nat, usually cuts me off and says,No Matt ghosted me! And yes that is true lol. Remember I was going through a rough time, I thought I was protecting myself so I did not get rejected again. Wrong answer. Nat had apparently told a few of her friends that she had met the love of my life that night at the Bally. A few months had gone by, it's early May, and I had decided on a whim while at work to send a message of whatever I had going on at work that day. She responded. So that weekend I drove to Terre Haute and the rest is history.
We were inseparable and have been ever since May 18th, 2021. If you made it this far, I thank you. I love Natalie and cannot wait to marry her on May 18th of this year.
