Thank you for making the extra effort to celebrate with us! Our ceremony and reception is near downtown Seattle, and there are many great hotels, Air BnBs, VRBOs, etc in the area. Natalie and Mitch would love to help you find a spot;&nbsp;just ask us!

Details

In the summer of 2012, two camp counselors met in Carnation valley.&nbsp; They&nbsp;bonded over the music that filled their&nbsp;teenage angst and a coincidental meeting years earlier at the University of Washington.&nbsp; &nbsp;Finding reasons to sneak away at&nbsp;night to&nbsp;gaze at starlit skies&nbsp;and watch old Disney movies, Mitch and Natalie started something special.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their first official date happened a few weeks later, shared over Thai food and ice cream, which has led to more than&nbsp;six years of “Satur-date" nights&nbsp;since. From first concerts to first football games, with adventures on the road thrown in for good measure, Mitch and Natalie built a life together.

Three apartments, two graduate&nbsp;degrees and a whole lot more Thai food and ice cream later, they were in love.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the middle of intern year, Mitch began planning The Proposal.&nbsp;On May 13, 2017&nbsp;the couple was vacationing in Vancouver, B.C&nbsp;and stayed the night in Bellingham on the way home.&nbsp; Mitch had planned a special "Satur-date" night, the kind where they dress up and pretend to be "fancy"&nbsp;adults. It began with a walk on the Bellingham boardwalk at sunset.&nbsp;&nbsp;







The couple approached the end of the board walk and six&nbsp;framed drawings were arranged on the benches.&nbsp; One by one they read "Let's start an adventure; Let us make our house a home; Natalie, Let's spend our lives together; And never more alone; Will you marry me?".&nbsp; Natalie began sobbing uncontrollably (of course)&nbsp;as Mitch got down on one knee.&nbsp; He asked if she would spend the rest of her life with him, and she enthusiastically said "Yes!" through lots of tears and mucus.&nbsp;&nbsp;







Natalie and Mitch are overjoyed to be taking this next step!

What aren't I doing to help my lovely little sister get married? I will be one of those sassy bridesmaids standing next to Natalie, helping make her dream day come true (and that's a big dream, considering Natalie started planning around age 5). Whether fixing a train, subtly supplying tissues&nbsp;or keeping Mitch from shoving cake in her face, we will be there for Natalie. And I made that fabulous cake you'll be drooling over. Months of preparation and sample platters went into making the whole dessert experience. Don't say I didn't suggest wearing more comfy fancy pants to accommodate the sugared delight you're about to enjoy.

The Best Man of the groom’s party exists in the space somewhere between Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the Paul Bunyan of American folklore. Brady Eugene Lester has been Mitch’s best friend since a young Mitch moved to Bellingham in elementary school. Their friendship, formed over cul-de-sac kickball games, grew through adolescence and into early manhood – with various business enterprises along the way including Landscape Escape (a yardwork endeavor with an emphasis on alliteration) and a successful line of spirited high school T-shirts (true story). Brady has remained steadfast by Mitch’s side despite periods of collar-popped Polo shirts and questionable hairstyles – displaying a loyalty equal to the strength of their friendship.

Natalie has been Val’s best friend since 2002 and Val has been Natalie’s best friend since 2007.&nbsp; They have boys to blame for the former and waffles to thank for the latter.

Val Barlow

A roommate twice, a lover once&nbsp;and a friend forever – Jeremy Stern has provided the sage wisdom that has kept Mitch on the path to being a tolerable member of society despite many questionable moments as a young adult. While best known as a charismatic fantasy football commissioner, a vocal general manager to a tight-knit group of Washington Huskies&nbsp;and as a discerning critic of both food and sports, Jeremy has provided a shoulder to cry on for Mitch at his lowest points as well as a cold beverage and high five to Mitch at his highest.

Adrian is one of Mitch’s closest friends through medical school and residency.&nbsp;They first forged their bond over a shared love of playing basketball: Mitch awestruck at Adrian’s graceful footwork;&nbsp;Adrian concerned at the volume of fluid Mitch could produce simply jogging up and down the court. While growing together as young physicians, Adrian has provided company through countless hours of studying for standardized examinations, as well as a Malone to Mitch’s Stockton as a pick-and-roll partner on the parquet courts of UW.

Since Chris is one of the few&nbsp;people in Natalie's life who remembers her pre-puberty, Natalie&nbsp;knew she would never get married without Chris by her side.&nbsp; After sixteen years of friendship&nbsp;(many of those with questionable scene haircuts&nbsp;for&nbsp;both of them)&nbsp;he has been there for all of Natalie's major life events.&nbsp;Favorite memories include a KoRn concert as thirteen year olds, a diorama of their friendship represented by potatoes&nbsp;and any night after a few drinks when Chris finds someone who isn't respecting Britney Spears.&nbsp;

Chris Thurheimer

Mitch’s first ever roommate, Chase and the groom have been friends since (his) birth. Despite many quarrels (both emotional and physical), shattered Lego constructions, thrown Pokémon cards&nbsp;and a now-resolved bite wound Chase continues to bring up at family gatherings,&nbsp;Chase and Mitch have grown as close as brothers. With a flair for the dramatic, Chase is not only a groomsman but also the officiant for Natalie & Mitch’s special day.

Natalie and Audrey met in high school and spent the summer of '09 growing into best friends. The majority of their friendship has taken place sitting in cars in Oregon, showing each other music and dissecting the world and beyond. Natalie drove with Audrey from Portland to Los Angeles in 2011 when Audrey moved to pursue a career in music business. Audrey will always remember what an incredibly sacred journey that was and how it captured the spirit of their friendship - supporting each other through life’s experiences and laughing all the way.
