If you ask me (Natalie), I'm pretty sure we exchanged names in our freshman dorm common room in 2010 at Cal Poly and I was secretly so excited to hold a conversation with him. Now, back it up a bit - I remember SEEING him for the first time on the very first day of school - and I had to take a second look. DAAANGG he was so darn CUTE but I quickly brought my head out of the clouds and came up with a game plan. First: become his friend, and then see where we could take it from there. One of our first encounters was during that first week of school, where I saw him walk across farmers market with his Week of Welcome Group. He had some Native American face paint on, and since I was in a different group, my face was semi-painted like a tiger. Our strange appearances didn't stop the attraction I felt towards him - clearly - because I mustered up the courage to yell his name across the crowded street to get his attention. By the GRACE of God - seriously, c'mon now, I looked like a half put together tiger in a Juicy Jacket wearing retainers - he looked at me, pointed at himself, and pushed his way through the crowd to me. I had a camera in my hand so I said, "take a picture with me!" **GREAT pickup line, Natalie** Thankfully, he didn't refuse, and I remember thinking, "Well, he probably thinks I'm weird, but he'll either have a really good heart & get over it or we won't be friends!" Throughout the next 4 years at Cal Poly, my eyes were opened to one of the best hearts I've ever met. Little did I know that handsome stranger was going to become my best friend, my team, my leader, my love, and my life. Thank Jesus I asked for that picture.
Matt & I met at 18 years old. We had no idea that we were going to date seriously, let alone get MARRIED!
We had the absolute best college experience two kids could have asked for. We were in the best town (San Luis Obispo), with the best places to adventure, with the best people. We were both involved in Greek life, we stayed on top of *trying* to get good grades (Matt graduated with a Civil Engineering degree ... me a Communications Degree + Photography minor... I wonder who had more on their plate school-wise...), we were actively hiking, swimming, and working out, we were involved in clubs, volunteer projects, and a lot of other great things!
But what took our relationship to the next level was during our Junior year in college - when we could no longer keep up on everything we were involved in and our relationship. This happened to be the same time we both became more curious about Jesus. We took a break from dating for about a year and a half, dove more into our personal faiths with God, and figured out more about who we were individually. We knew that if our relationship was meant to be, God would bring us back together.
It's been the coolest ride of a relationship. So much has happened between 2010 and 2017. Jesus has written us the most special love story: full of growth, fun, surprises, challenges, failures, and successes. The coolest part: we now have an unshakeable foundation to build upon & His unconditional love & grace in the middle of it all. We aren't afraid to take on the ups and downs of the next 80 years together simply because, we have Him.

Matt's going to have to tell you this story :). It's a great one, & includes bleeding feet, a potential mishap with a Jeep rolling down a hill, 2 sunset-watches in 1 night, & a really REALLY cool music video that Matt made.
Matt & I cannot wait for June 23rd. We cannot wait to be on top of Lekai Ranch's hill, celebrating with you guys, overlooking the beautiful hills to the backside of Big Sur and the Pacific Ocean.
We also can't wait for what's in store. We can't wait for more hangouts. More genuine moments with you all. More life actually lived with you guys.
We can't wait to enjoy the "fixing up our house" journey. We can't wait to step into the first few challenging but rewarding years of marriage. We can't wait to hopefully have 2 (maybe 3) kids one day! We can't wait to see where Jesus wants us to go, and where we take our lives. We cannot wait to be The Lees.
We plan on drinking life to the lees, enjoying every last drop.
Thank you guys for being a part of our lives. WE LOVE YOU!!!!
