If you know Nate, you know that he pretty much despises Colorado (how many times can one guy get pneumonia in the same place?) So, how lucky is he to meet and fall in love with a girl that JUST moved there?!

Nate and Emily met on a ski trip in Steamboat Springs, CO. Emily had just moved to Colorado a couple weeks prior and was invited to spend a weekend with strangers by her best friend Maddie, who was dating (now marrying) Nate’s best friend Eddie. From Nate’s perspective, Emily got out of the car and he immediately thought “wow!” And asked if she needed help bringing anything inside. Emily on the other hand had an immediate thought “no thanks, I’m here to have fun with my best friend”. However, she quickly found herself always by Nate’s side over the next few days! Sadly, after 5 days, they parted ways. Nate going back to Minnesota and Emily back to Denver, neither one having any expectations that this new fling would go anywhere.

It only took about a month and half before they were talking everyday. They met each other’s families very early on. Nate brought Emily to a wedding as his plus one in February and decided to surprise his parents with a new girl at that wedding. Luckily, everything went smoothly. Nate also got to meet Emily’s mom that same weekend. Not wasting any time!! About a month later, they were officially, official.

Over the next year Nate and Emily traveled between Colorado and Minnesota every couple of weeks. It wasn’t easy but they made it work and got to have a lot of adventures together exploring Colorado. Eventually a decision was made that long distance was no longer going to work and Emily decided she would make the move back to Minnesota.

The move back was another test for the two. Nate went down to Colorado to help Emily pack up and move. Turned out, he did not do much packing or moving.. Less than 12 hours after he landed, Nate’s health went downhill. This started a couple month long sickness and time in and out of emergency rooms and hospital stays. When scares like this happen, it really put things into perspective and Emily had even more confirmation that she didn’t want to live her life without Nate.

Shortly after he was in the clear, Emily moved in with Nate (not that she rarely left his side anyways). Nate, Emily and Remi have started putting down their roots over the last year and really started their lives together. One milestone we get to share with all of our favorite people that have been through all walks of life with one or the other, the wedding!
