Our love story is brought to you by Tinder. Without meeting on the app, I'm not sure if our paths would have ever crossed. After 5 days of messaging and calling back and forth, we decided to have our first date at La Cabana in Martin, Tennessee. After our first date, we were pretty much inseparable. Nate would get off work and drive an hour just to spend evenings with me at my apartment, where we loved to sit and binge watch reality TV. We eventually moved forward to meeting each other's families and spending time together back and forth between my place and his parent's.
Near the end of my sophomore year at UTM, Nate and I decided to move in together since we spent most of our time together anyways. We found a nice duplex in Murray and I transferred to Murray State to finish my undergraduate degree. We were both very happy to be able to live with each other and make even more wonderful memories.
A year later in Summer of 2023, I was dropping hints of getting engaged like most women do. We planned to celebrate our 2nd anniversary at Texas de Brazil in Memphis, Tennessee. If you're familiar with the restaurant, then you know I thought this would be where he would propose. Dinner passed and our dessert was delivered with a little message written in chocolate sauce saying "Happy Anniversary" and not "Will you marry me?". I chalked it up to me waiting another year or so and went on about the rest of the day.
That late afternoon, we headed to my little brother's birthday party in Dyersburg, TN. I found it very inconvenient that my mother insisted on having his party on the same day of my anniversary. However, disguised as a party was a beautiful proposal that Nate had been planning for months. He made sure to include every little detail that I would love and even drew out the floor plan for my family to follow. I'm so fortunate to be able to spend my days with him by my side. We are both so incredibly excited to be married in October!
