Is there a dress code?
Formally, no. We don't care much what you wear but ask you dress up a little. Dress pants and collared shirts (polo's or button ups) are required for men. Dresses of all kinds or dress pants and a nice blouse are okay for women. Ultimately, we want you to wear what you feel best and most comfortable in! Please plan to bring a jacket since it may get a bit cooler at the reception spot when the sun goes down. Don't worry about brining an umbrella if there is weather, the venue will have clear ones if there is any rain.
What time should we arrive at the ceremony venue?
Since there is that short walk to get to the ceremony spot, we recommend arriving around 20 minutes early, at 4:10pm. That way there is time to get to the spot, use the restroom if needed, find your seat, and get settled in. A reminder that the ceremony spot is about 30 minutes outside of the main town, so please be sure to look up the time it takes you to get there beforehand when we release that information. You may need to plan to leave around 50 minutes early!
Where are the ceremony and reception?
Durango is supposed to have beautiful weather at the beginning of October so we are planning to have both the ceremony and reception outdoors. We do have indoor back up spots for both if things go South. We are not revealing the official ceremony spot yet, but it will take place about 30 minutes outside the city of Durango near the Purgatory ski area. The reception will be at Carver Brewery in downtown Durango.
What shoes do I wear for the outdoor ceremony?
While we are not sharing our ceremony spot quite yet, we will say that there is about a quarter of a mile walk to get to the spot. It is a flat, dirt paved road. You are free to walk it in dress shoes if you would like, (our wedding planner did say she has seen women do it in heels plenty of times before) but we would recommend bringing a pair of sneakers to walk that in and then changing into dress shoes when you arrive. There will be plenty of seating room to store extra shoes under the benches. There will also be a shuttle to take people to the top if you are unable to walk it, but we recommend enjoying the beautiful scenery on foot if available. Please reach out to us beforehand if we have not already discussed the shuttle with you and you would like to take it.
Will there be a shuttle between the ceremony and reception spot?
No. You will need to make sure to have your own transportation arrangements for the day of. There are Ubers available in the town, but we are not sure how readily available they are.
What is the menu for the reception?
The food will be served buffet style. There will be macaroni and cheese, green chile chicken enchiladas, red chile braised beef, and Sockeye salmon. There will also be a dessert. They serve desserts seasonally, so we should be learning soon what it will be. There will be an open bar for the first two hours with craft beer, wine, and cocktails. After that, it will be a cash bar until last call.
Do you have a registry?
We are not asking for any gifts. If you would still like to do something, you may donate to our honeymoon fund.
What else should I know for the wedding?
We plan on having a very simple and laid back wedding so please don't stress about any of the details! You are welcome to ask Nate or Sydnee any questions if you have them, but please know our biggest priority is having everyone with us and having a great time. We ask that you please respect our decision to keep our big day very small and only include those who are very close to us and that we know very well. Thank you!
Where will the rehearsal dinner be?
We are not formally doing one big rehearsal dinner. Instead, we have planned to have dinners with just our families separately the night before.
