Our Wedding

In the town of Derby, two teachers shared a building that became the backdrop for a beautiful love story. Nathan and Jocelyn both taught at Stone Creek Elementary, though they taught different grades. They first interacted during the opening of the building. A school year full of flights and crashes. Jocelyn, with her warm smile and infectious enthusiasm for kindergarten, found an unexpected ally in Nathan, who taught 5th grade with a quiet passion. Their initial meetings were casual, exchanging stories about their students and classroom challenges. However, it didn’t take long for their shared sense of humor and love for teaching to forge a deep friendship. Their bond strengthened over time, leading to an impromptu plan for their first date on December 17th, 2023. The first date was in December, and the Wild Lights at the Zoo was in full swing. The zoo transformed into a magical wonderland of twinkling lights and festive displays. Jocelyn and Nathan walked through the illuminated paths, their laughter mingling with the cheerful sounds of the holiday season. They marveled at the spectacular light displays and discovered that their connection extended beyond the classroom.&nbsp; Their first date led to many adventures together. On January 13th 2024, they decided to attend a Chiefs playoff game. This game went down in history as the coldest game in Kansas City. The stadium was packed, and the excitement was tangible. Jocelyn and Nathan bundled up in layers of clothing, their breath visible in the frozen air. Despite the cold that seeped through their layers, the game was exhilarating. They cheered, laughed, and shivered together, the warmth of their shared experience more than compensating for the chill. As their relationship grew, Nathan and Jocelyn’s lives became even more intertwined with their beloved pack of dogs. Before they met, Nathan had Luke, Rey and Kylo. While Jocelyn had Lucy and Maizey. When they came together, their individual packs merged into one joyful, lively group. Their homes were filled with the delightful chaos of barking, wagging tails, and playful antics. Whether they were playing fetch in the backyard or cuddling on the couch, Luke, Lucy, Rey, Maizey, and Kylo brought endless happiness and warmth to Nathan and Jocelyn’s lives. In the summer, they embarked on a cruise to Mexico, savoring the sun-drenched days and turquoise waters. They explored Cozumel and Progresso. It was on this trip that they began to envision their future together more clearly, their dreams intertwining like the gentle waves they sailed upon. Back at Stone Creek, Nathan chose a meaningful location for his proposal. On June 12th 2024, he led Jocelyn back to Stone Creek Elementary. The familiar building had always been a part of their journey, and Nathan wanted to make the moment unforgettable. At the entrance he dropped to one knee and asked Jocelyn to marry him. The proposal was as heartfelt and sincere as their relationship, and Jocelyn, with tears of joy, said yes. In July they visited Branson, Missouri with family. They spent a week exploring the scenic Ozark Mountains, enjoying live shows, and relishing in the quaint charm of the town. It was a perfect way to savor the excitement of their engagement and create memories with their family. Nathan and Jocelyn’s journey continued as they began planning to build their dream home together. Their new house would be a place where they could create a future, filled with love, laughter, and their beloved dogs. As they sketched out plans and chose colors, they envisioned a space that reflected their shared dreams and experiences. And so, Nathan and Jocelyn’s story, rooted in Stone Creek Elementary, blossomed into a life filled with adventure, love, and the promise of a future built on the foundation of friendship and shared dreams. Dream are taking flight.
