Coworkers…Friends…Soulmates

January 25th, 2019. Nathan and Alainna met for the first time at their new job working at the Chick-Fil-A concept in the Oklahoma State University Student Union. It wasn’t love at first sight…sparks didn’t instantly fly like you see in movies…but they clicked. They talked all night about the new job, their majors, their love for animals, and how nervous they had been starting a new job. Days and weeks passed by and with each shift they talked more and more. After a few weeks they began talking outside of work. Alainna jokes that once they started talking, they never stopped. Conversations ranged from classes to religion, politics, family, and sports. Anything they could think of to keep the conversation going. March 9th, 2019. Nathan planned to bring Alainna to see a movie with some of his roommates and friends. She had met them a few weeks prior and wanted to get to know them better. However, one after another, all of Nathan’s friends backed out leaving him with a choice…take Alainna alone or cancel the event. Alainna sat in her dorm room, anxiously waiting for him to tell her their plan. Then he texted her…dinner at 7 and a movie at 8:15. That night they both finally admitted to the other that they wanted to start dating. Both of them full of butterflies and excitement for the future. Four years passed. They changed jobs, made friends, lost friends, had classes together, got several degrees, lived an hour and a half apart for a year, met each other’s families, traveled together, watched their families grow with additions of two nieces and a nephew, celebrated holidays and birthdays and anniversarys…and every step of the way fell more in love. March 12th, 2023. Three days prior Nathan and Alainna celebrated their four year anniversary. Alainna asked her best friend, Kaylyn, to take anniversary photos of them. Due to their work schedules they couldn’t do the photos on their anniversary…so they settled for March 12th. Nathan and Alainna met Kaylyn at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. They walked around for a bit, Alainna and Kaylyn chatting, everyone shivering from the cold wind. Kaylyn posed them several times for different shots. Finally, they stopped at a clearing that overlooked the water and shoreline. Kaylyn snapped several photos and asked Alainna to look at them. Nathan knew it was now or never…so when Alainna turned around he was on one knee. Seeing as you’re reading this from our wedding website you should know she said yes. So, that’s our story for now. As we plan our wedding, we’re taking time to reflect on our four years of dating and all the memories we’ve made. We’re so very excited to spend the rest of our lives together, and so very thankful that we both just happened to apply for the same job almost five years ago. Forever and ever, and a day.
