We became friends within the first week of our second year of college. Michigan Tech set us up as RAs on the same staff, and by the end of that year we were good friends hanging out in the dorms and hunting for waterfalls and ruins in the Upper Peninsula.
We couldn’t write the story of our wooing without mentioning the trusty Subaru. That car earned all the character it showed in rust and dents through hard traveled, rough roads and puddles of questionable depth. On most of our adventures Daisy would insist we stop at a beach to look for agates. After a few rock hunts Nathan found his first good agate and has been hooked ever since.
Over the summer we stayed in touch and when school started up again, we picked right back up where we left off. A few months into our relationship we went camping in the Boundary Waters canoe area. Nathan trusted Daisy to drag him into the remote wilderness of northern Minnesota, and we had a wonderful trip seeing more moose than people!
We had been dating for not even a year, when Daisy took a position in California with the Americorps for a service year. Long distance is tough but we made it work! When the service year was up we moved into an apartment in Appleton, WI and started building a life together.
After moving into a house with a backyard we decided to get a dog! Willow fell into our life perfectly and anxiously. She’s slowly becoming a much braver dog as we take her on adventures!
On June 23rd, Nathan popped the big question with the sneaky help of his sister Danielle. He proposed through a note in a geocache and an agate studded engagement ring! After a Summer full of celebrating our friends’ weddings, we moved to Nampa, Idaho in September. We’re enjoying exploring our new terrain and making memories in a new place!
