Our Story

How We Met: Nathan's Version

We met at college when I sold Kierra two of my old textbooks at the beginning of the semester. She caught my eye then but I didn't make any moves or anything; I figured she had a boyfriend. A few weeks later we saw each other at econ club (where all the cool kids hung out) and chatted for a bit. Her sense of humor and friendliness stood out to me, and I really started being interested in her. However, I continued to bide my time. She, on the other hand, could not wait and invited me to go swing dancing with her a few weeks after that. That was a very exciting prospect, but I still wasn't sure if she liked me (later I was told that it was "obvious" and I was "a dumb boy"). We ended going swing dancing every Sunday night after that and even started studying together throughout the week sometimes. I eventually asked her out on a date (her response: "About time!") and we went and got dinner together. It went well and we began "officially dating" right before Thanksgiving break.

The next semester I started going over to Kierra's dorm every night to see her. In fact, curfew was midnight most nights and I often found myself running back to my dorm around 11:58 after long goodbye hugs. We didn't want to lose a single minute! Over time I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. On November 4, 2023, Kierra and I had a date planned, but when she came downstairs to meet me she found a note with a clue inside of it instead. This led her to where we first met (the fateful econ book exchange) which had another clue which led her all around campus to different points in our relationship. Eventually it led her to a nature trail off campus where I was waiting next to a waterfall to propose. She said yes!

How We Met: Kierra's Version

We met at Cedarville University during the very beginning of my sophomore year and Nathan's junior year. He rented some textbooks to me for one of our Econ major courses. I thought he was super cute :) and we chatted for a little bit and realized that we both went to (nerd alert) econ club but had never seen each other. The first one of the year wouldn't be for about a month, but he was always in the back of my mind and I knew I'd see him again then. When that one came, I found an excuse to talk to him and we chatted a bit, texted a little after that, and then I dropped a hint about swing dancing (he took the bait). We started swing dancing, hanging out together and studying at our local coffee shop, and eventually dating :))

We never really had much of an awkward phase, definitely some learning phases, but it was always comfortable which is a BIG deal to me. We just click on pretty much every level, and forever only makes sense for us :)
