Our Wedding

My side of the story begins in the Fall of 2018. I was just beginning my sophomore year at Oklahoma State University right next to my brother who was going into his senior year. We both attended St. John’s Catholic Church where we attended Mass the Sunday before classes began. I had just returned to my seat after receiving the Holy Eucharist and was praying diligently about having a successful upcoming semester. I was in the middle of my prayer when a beautiful girl caught my attention as she was waiting in line to receive the Holy Eucharist herself. God revealed this girl to me in a way where I was able to see her beauty internally and externally all at the same time. I couldn’t help myself but to stare in awe at this girl receiving the Holy Eucharist that I have never seen before. God gave me an undeniable sense of intrigue which kept her at the forefront of my mind throughout the remainder of Mass. Once Mass was concluded, everyone began filing out of the church and as it happened, it was just me and this girl walking out of the church at the same time. You would think this to be a perfect opportunity to introduce myself. Instead, I pulled out my phone and messaged my best friend saying “I just saw my wife”. The beginning of spring 2019, I began praying to the Lord that he give me understanding of my vocation and courage to pursue whatever it may be. I was uncertain of God’s plan for me at that time, but a prayer that I commonly prayed was for God to give me confidence to approach my future wife and introduce myself if that’s what He was calling me to do. A few weeks after I began this prayer, I was introducing myself to a girl by the name of Neeley Elizabeth who happened to be the same girl I had texted my best friend about the year before. Fall 2019 was approaching and we were again just about to begin our new school semester. This was my Junior year and my brother was just finishing up his degree. The Sunday before school started my brother and I were again planning to attend Mass when he asked if I wanted to go to St. Francis Xavier, another parish in town. I just had a strong desire to go to St. John’s. At this time I prayed the exact same prayer for guidance in understanding my vocation over the course of the upcoming school year. After Mass that morning, I saw Neeley Elizabeth and a group of her friends catching up on their lives after the summer. Without hesitation (but a good shot of nerves), I approached the group and included myself in the conversation where I came up with a clever way to ask for her number. I asked to get every girl’s number all the while knowing that the only number I really wanted was Neeley Elizabeth’s. After a few weeks of talking and getting to know each other, I asked Neeley Elizabeth on an ice cream date. My excitement and deep sense of peace leading up to this date made me fully realize that my vocation I had been praying for that entire year was made crystal clear—I was called to marriage and, thank God, my wife will soon be Neeley Elizabeth.&nbsp;“I have found the one whom my soul loves.” -Song of Solomon 3:4

His Point of View...

I first met Landon Scott at the end of my freshmen year at Oklahoma State. I remember he came up to me one night after candlelight mass at St. John to introduce himself. He continued to pursue me in conversation at the church for the next several weeks, but at the time I honestly didn't think much of it because it was almost summer break and I was going to be moving away to work at camp. However, I do remember leaving every single conversation thinking how he may have been the sweetest boy I had ever met. I was pretty smitten by what I thought was his "country accent" and I even told one of my friends at the church that he was going to make some girl extremely happy someday... again, I was completely oblivious at the time and not even looking to date. Flash forward a few months and I am back at OSU finishing up a long week of recruitment at Chi O. It was one of the very first Sunday masses back at St. John, and sure enough, here comes sweet Landon Scott making his way up to me in the student hall. I remember being blown away that after a full summer, he still remembered me and still made a point to find me after mass, just like he used to the previous semester. It had become this little routine of his, and it was quickly becoming a routine of mine as well. He didn't waste a second this time, and he asked for my number. He deserves some credit here- I was standing in a circle with a few of my friends, and he insisted that all of us should put our numbers into his phone because he didn't have any of them yet. I thought maybe he was just trying to make some friends at the church, but a few weeks down the road I came to find out I was the only one he had been talking to! Soon after that we went on our very first date to get ice cream. Every date and every second of time we spent together after that only got sweeter and sweeter, and it still does to this day. I am the lucky girl I didn't know I was talking about, and Landon Scott is my most precious gift and the one whom the Lord has given me to love.
