Who could have imagined that after more than 30 years, Nely and Ronnie’s paths would intersect again? Back in school, they often passed each other in the hallways and sat just a table apart in the cafeteria, but their social circles never overlapped. They even played in the same gym classes, yet never spoke. He was the cool, trendy kid, popular with the girls, while she was the quiet, shy girl from the nerdy class, but who also dressed in the latest fashion. After graduation, they went their separate ways, never anticipating that their lives would cross again.

Nely and Ronnie were both members of the Facebook group for their Junior High School alumni. In October 2016, Ronnie reached out to Nely about the upcoming class reunion, and that single message led to daily, deep conversations. They discovered a surprising number of shared interests and a growing curiosity about each other. Although they skipped the reunion, they had their first date in November 2016. While it wasn’t love at first sight, the chemistry between them was undeniable and they enjoyed their evening out in New York City so much that they didn’t want it to end. The night concluded with a sweet kiss and a mutual desire to continue seeing each other.

On February 14, 2017, their relationship officially began, and they’ve celebrated both their anniversary and Valentine’s Day together ever since. In August 2023, despite the proposal that Ronnie had meticulously planned not going as expected, he asked Nely to marry him in the intimate setting of their cabin during their Bermuda cruise.

They’re amazed and grateful that destiny reunited them after so many years and now they eagerly look forward to celebrating the beginning of their next big adventure with family and friends on October 4, 2025.
