Clearwell Castle will be open to our guests from noon on the day of the wedding, including the bar. The car park next to the Castle will also be open from this point.
The Wyndham, which is part of the venue accommodation in Clearwell village, will be open from 10am selling tea and coffee, and the bar there will also open for alcoholic drinks at noon.
The Wyndham also serves as the hotel reception, where you can check in if you are staying in the Clearwell accommodation overnight.
Please note that parking outside The Wyndham and Wyndham Lodge is reserved for those staying in these parts of the venue accommodation overnight. If you’re not staying there overnight, please park next to the Castle.
As a historic venue, Clearwell Castle is not really accessible throughout. There are several flights of stone steps up from the car park to the entrance to the Castle. Inside the venue there are stairs up to the toilets, and down to the cellar bar. The ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and live music will all be held on the ground floor of the Castle.
Please note that the footpath between the Castle and some of the overnight accommodation in Clearwell village is a little rough in places, and is not well-lit after sunset, you will need your phone as a torch.
We're sorry that we can only accommodate a small number of children on the day, as part of the bridal party.
Unfortunately, Clearwell Castle does not allow pets on site. If you need to bring a service dog, please contact us.
Confetti will be provided on the day, but if you bring your own please ensure it is paper confetti in a neutral colour or dried flower petals, as requested by Clearwell.
Clearwell Castle is a beautiful venue with a light-filled ballroom - which Sarah fell in love with when we first visited (and is where the ceremony will be held) - as well as a library, cocktail terrace and cellar bar (where the DJ will be later!).
It also has lovely grounds guests can explore, which are home to a croquet lawn, bandstand, ponds and two donkeys called Tigger and Molly.
The Castle was first built in the 1700s. More recently it served as the recording studio for Queen, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin (which is what made Nev fall in love with it!), before becoming a wedding venue in the 1990s.
