There are so many places to stay near Loch Lomond, below are a few suggestions.

There are also a number of AirBnB's in the area and perfect to stay in if you plan on hanging around for a few days.

Accomodation

Getting here! Traveling from America? Our wedding venue is located about 45 mins from Glasgow (33 miles) and 1hr 35 mins from Edinburgh (75 miles). If you are planning on staying in the UK/Scotland for a while then it would be best to hire a car as Ubers are not a thing outside the cities. Flying to the UK There are direct flights from Charlotte to Heathrow in London and then daily flights from Heathrow to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Glasgow is the closest airport to the venue and to where Niamh's family is based (if anyone would like to spend a few days exploring before the wedding) Grandma Williamson would love to see you all! Trains to Scotland There are pretty good train links from London and all major cities to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Transport to and From the Venue But we have arranged a bus from Loch Lomond Hotel - this will pick up at 1:55pm &amp; Cameron House - this will oick up at 1:40pm. There will also be one from Ardoch House (where the bridal party will be staying). At the end of the night, these buses will drop off where they picked up from. Ayrshire 

Ayrshire is where niamh and her family are based, in a small village called Fairlie on the west coast of Scotland. It is small but very picturesque

Being so close to the water means that we have excellent ferry routes to the Isle of Arran, Isle of Bute, a little island called Millport and a major ferry link to Northern Ireland!

We are extremely lucky to be close to many beautiful, very rugged golf courses. Including Prestwick, Troon, Largs and Skelmorlie. Further afield and up near Loch Lomond (where we are getting married) there are other beautiful courses. There is also St Andrews which is about 3hrs from Niamh’s home and Turnberry, about an hour away.

Largs is a picturesque town about 10 minutes from Niamh’s home. Within about a 1hrs radius there is lots of beautiful coral times where you can eat fresh fish and chips and take in the view (if it doesn’t rain)

Glasgow

In this instance, West is most definitely best! Well according to Niamh it is (she definitely prefers Glasgow to Edinburgh). There is so much to do in Glasgow. Below is a few suggestions

Glasgow is a brilliant town to shop in. Buchanan Street has loads of British high street brands and great restraunts like The Ivy. You can get the train from pretty much anywhere, including Fairlie and It’s only a 45 min drive from Loch Lomond

No trip to Scotland is complete without a visit to a whisky distillery to sample our national drink! The Clydeside Distillery is in the heart of Glasgow and is the first dedicated Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery in the city for over 100 years. Book a tour with an expert guide and learn more about the whisky industry and its rich history in Glasgow and follow it up by sampling some delicious whisky with views out over the Clyde.&nbsp;

If you don’t want to fly South, you can pretty much get a train to anywhere from Glasgow Central. Direct to cities like Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Birmingham. Use the TrainLine app to get cheap tickets!

Edinburgh 

Edinburgh is Scotlands Capital City and you can pretty much do the main points in a day. The hop on hop off bus tour is great for seeing it all

You can get to Edinburgh from Glasgow Queen Street. The castle sits at the top of The Royal Mile (the mile between the castle and the Parliament building)

Scotland has its own parliament (but not its own queen). You can head into the parliament building and watch live debates

Permanently moored in Edinburgh, you can tour the Royal Yatch that used to be used by the Queen for most of her state visits

Other things to do

The UK has some wonderful places to visit and is only a short hop across the English Channel to continental Europe. There are normally cheap flights to Italy, France, Spain and Germany. There are also plenty of places to visit within the UK as well as Dublin (Ireland).

London

We would recommend staying in Scotland - there is so much to do, especially on the west coast. The Isle of Skye is stunning but you will definitely need to hire a car. You can visit the Harry Potter Bridge on the way, drive through Glen Coe, stop off in Fort William and see Eilean Donan Castle

Ceilidh dancing for those not in the know is traditional Scottish country dancing. We have arranged for our band to do 3 dances; The Gay Gordons, The Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow. We are so lucky to have so much in our lives already and we appreciate a trip to Scotland for those travelling is expensive therefore we have not set up a registry.
