Nerja is a small town situated right on the Mediterranean coastline, in the south of Spain, in the Andalucia region. The town is built on a cliff above numerous sandy coves and lies at the foot of the impressive Sierra de Almijara mountain range. The town centre is located around the Balcón de Europa (big red dot on attached map) - this is a beautiful promenade and lookout point.

The main beach is Burriana beach (to the right of the map) but there are many small private coves to the east and west of the Balcón de Europa. You can easily walk around town as most of it is flat. It would take approximately half an hour to walk from one side of Nerja (Burriana beach) to the other side (El Playazo beach).

The main nightlife area in Nerja is known as Plaza Tutti Frutti (this has bars and nightclubs that open from 10pm till 6am.)
