It all began with a text message that read, "You should go on a date with my daughter. She is on Facebook. Today is her birthday." Unbeknownst to Kayla, her dad had just sent the most awkward message to a sales associate he had worked with at Pepsi. That sales associate was Nick. Nick had been working alongside Kayla's dad for the past few months, and Kayla's dad thought they would make a great match. Both Kayla and Nick were pretty skeptical of this idea.

A few weeks later they went on a date, which turned into a second, and a third, and so on. They felt they had something special between them, but unfortunately at this time, they were both starting new careers in different states.

Over the next few years, Nick and Kayla (mostly Nick) traveled 3 hours between Stamford, CT and Palmer, MA every weekend. With the love and support from their families, they continued to grow their love for one another, always anticipating the next weekend together. They found that they balanced each other out in all the right ways: Kayla always filling up their schedule with the endless desire for new experiences together, and Nick slowing her down to appreciate the quiet moments at home.

Shortly after they celebrated their five year anniversary, Nick surprised Kayla and proposed during an icy winter hike. She without hesitation said yes! It is crazy to think that this love story all started because of Pepsi and an awkward dad with the best intentions.
