Things to Do

We hope that you get the time to explore the area while you're here! Below are some of our recommendations.

Explore the Surrounding Olympic Peninsula

Perched along the shores of Hood Canal, Port Gamble is a picturesque waterfront town filled with historic charm, small-town warmth, and incredible views around every corner. From here, the Olympic Peninsula unfolds in every direction, revealing lovely seaside towns and amazing landscapes waiting to be explored.

Spend an afternoon in Poulsbo, a Scandinavian-inspired village where cozy cafés and waterfront shops line Liberty Bay. Wander through Port Townsend, a vibrant seaside town known for its Victorian architecture, art galleries, and local breweries. Visit Kingston for its small-town charm and ferry rides across the Sound, or enjoy Bremerton’s harbor views and naval history along its lively marina. For a scenic day trip, head farther west to Sequim’s lavender fields or Port Angeles, the gateway to Olympic National Park’s mountains and coastlines.

Each town offers its own vibe and story, connected by winding coastal roads, salt air, and that unmistakable magic of the Pacific Northwest.

Explore the charming towns of Whidbey Island

It's not where we're getting married, but it's not too far! It's been our home for the past few years, and it's where we fell in love. We're quite fond of it, and we think you'll love it too!

From the "big city" of Oak Harbor to lovely Langley and our quaint home of Coupeville, there are many wonderful corners of Whidbey Island to explore. The land route to the island passes through beautiful scenery and the impressive Deception Pass bridge. Still, we recommend taking the ferry from Mukilteo (no reservation required) or Port Townsend (reservation required).

Visit a Nearby Cider House

In Washington, the apple trees outnumber the people, and the area surrounding Port Gamble is home to a handful of cozy cider houses that’ll warm your heart and make your day a little sweeter. Under strings of soft lights and surrounded by trees, fields, and misty hillsides, each spot feels like its own little pocket of calm where good cider, good company, and the beauty of the land all come together.

Visit Bushel & Barrel Ciderhouse in Poulsbo for its laid-back farmhouse charm and bold, English-style blends. Or Finnriver Farm & Cidery in Chimacum for its open fields, live music, and orchard views that stretch into forever. And tucked away in Port Townsend, Alpenfire Cider crafts small-batch ciders from heritage apples grown on their family orchard, offering a timeless, romantic atmosphere that’s hard to leave behind.
