When Nick and Melissa get married, they will have been together for just short of 9 years, as they started dating back in high school in 2016. If you do the math, that's just over 1/3 of their entire lives! Nick and Melissa have grown up together, and it's crazy to think that the day they dreamed of as teenagers is finally happening.

It all started back in November 2016 when Melissa told her younger brother, Michael, that she was over being single and wanted a boyfriend, asking him if he knew anyone that could contend as her boyfriend. Immediately, Michael suggested his friend from the high school robotics club: Nick. Michael was the best unofficial wingman for Nick, telling Melissa how nice, funny, and smart he was, and how she would definitely find him cute.

If you know Michael, he is very convincing, so Melissa immediately got to work on making Nick her boyfriend. Just three days after meeting, Nick asked Melissa to be his girlfriend after their (unique) first date. To make it official, Melissa made Nick shake on it, and the rest is pretty much history!

Nick and Melissa always laugh when they think about how they got together (we will spare you the first date details). Regardless, they wouldn't have it any other way. Their silly date started a lifetime of happiness for Nick and Melissa that they are forever grateful for.

Nick and Melissa dated throughout the rest of high school, with Nick graduating a year before her in 2018. After that, Nick decided to go to Loyola University in Chicago. The first big test to their relationship was to see if they would stay together while Nick went to college, and they did. After Melissa graduated in 2019, she decided to go to college at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Learning how to make it through the distance and them both being in college wasn't easy at first, but they eventually got the hang of it. When COVID hit, they were both sent home from school, and were practically inseparable from that point on, making the most of their newfound time at home together.

When they both went back to school, they got to experience lots of Amtrak train rides, each others' 21st birthdays, and so much more. Nick graduated from Loyola in 2022, and went back right away to get his Master's. Melissa had always given Nick a rule that he wasn't allowed to propose to her until she graduated from college, even though they were both ready to get engaged years before that.

Melissa graduated from Marquette on May 20th, 2023 and moved in to her new apartment on June 1st. Nick wasted no time, and proposed to Melissa on June 2nd, which completely surprised her. Their proposal was at Lake Shore State Park, one of their favorite spots to walk, run, or have a picnic. Nick set up a sunset picnic with flowers, sushi, and champagne. When Melissa said "yes", she had never seen Nick smile so much in his entire life, and she could barely see anyways because she was crying the happiest of tears.

They have both been waiting years to grow up so that they could get engaged, get married, and start their lives together as Nick and Melissa Synovic, and it's finally happening. They could not be more excited to celebrate their love with you all on August 2, 2025, as it is Many Years in the Making.
