The visit itself is free, but you will pay for parking. After you park, there is a free tram ride through the property, stopping at the petting zoo and ending at the beer garden...where each adult gets two free samples of beer!
Our wedding venue is halfway between the Budweiser brewery (downtown) and this location, which is the Busch family's estate lands.
Missouri's first food truck garden! Trucks generally change daily, so check online for their line-up. Nick and Lisa are here very often and is their neighborhood bar with THE BEST BARTENDERS IN ST. LOUIS.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces, large screen that is often showing games, there are also movies during different times.
Tours do fill up! You can expect to walk a bit, so plan accordingly. There is a restaurant at the end of the tour, so it makes for a great afternoon activity.
While there are likely no shows or events at this location during October, it is one of our table settings, so it's worthy of a spot on this list.
Shows at the Muny have been a good gateway to shape Nick's appreciation of musical theater and Lisa's distaste for large crowds.
Some of Lisa's relatives didn't believe her FOR YEARS that admission to the Zoo is FREE!
Not only that, it's an awesome zoo!
Powell Hall is the home of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. It had recently undergone a huge renovation and the SLSO had to perform in alternate locations for the 23-24 season. There are events and performances year-round in this space and is definitely worth the visit!
The "Fabulous Fox" Theatre is home to many traveling events, but is the primary place for stage musicals.
Be sure to check out the carpet if you go...it's an exact replica of the original elephant design!
Many of the shows that Nick (and Jessie!) want to go see are at Delmar Hall. A relatively new performance space in "the Loop", it has both seats and standing room for shows.
Delmar Hall and The Pageant are owned by the same folks, so be sure to check out their website to see what shows are in town!
Whatever you do, don't call it *ice cream*. It's FROZEN CUSTARD and yes, you can tell a difference!
It's a St. Louis staple and The Natives get super defensive about the elevation of TD's over literally any other dessert in existence.
It is an unspoken requirement that, when driving, the Arch is pointed out the first moment that you can see it. If you don't say "There's the Arch!" you aren't doing it right.
There is a museum about the area at the base and you can purchase tickets to go to the top! We strongly recommend to get reservations online as they do fill up during the day.
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 - it was the last day of Garden Glow, which is a huge holiday light display at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Unseasonably warm, Lisa had just had about 7 hours of teacher meetings before going back to school post winter-break.
Nick got tickets for all 3 kids and Lisa and that's when he proposed! Everyone knew except for Lisa, which is par for the course.
IKEA is Lisa's favorite store. That is literally the only reason it's on this list. Lisa couldn't resist making this location a table setting.
The meatballs are life-affirming. That is all.
Part art-installation, part adult playground, it's also an event venue...it's a lot of things. It just needs to be experienced to define.
Yes, there's a bus on top of the building...and a ferris wheel.
Enjoy!
IT'S FREE!
IT'S AWESOME!
4Hands Brewery has both beer and spirits on-site. The bartenders here also experiment with different cocktail creations, so if you're feeling adventurous, ask them what's new!
