In October 2014, Nick and Stephen met virtually through the dating website, OkCupid, where they quickly bonded over shared interests, especially the reality competition show, Survivor. They would message back and forth about the latest twists and turns of the current season until they decided to finally meet in person at the Russell House Tavern in Harvard Square.

Eight years later, they celebrated this anniversary at the same restaurant and came back home to discover their dog, Whiskey, with a new bandana around his neck. The bandana read, "Will you two get marred already?" Not wanting to disappoint their pup, they happily agreed.
