Believe it or not, there is so much more to Wisconsin than cows, cheese and the Green Bay Packers. Below are some of our recommendations of the best things to do in the area in case you have some time to explore!
The Dane County Farmers' Market is a lovely way to spend your morning filled with fresh produce, pretty flowers, and delicious local bakery items, in Madison's Capitol Square. If you're in town on the Saturday before the wedding, we highly recommend checking it out!
While you are there, make sure to take a peak inside the capital building, eat some yummy Wisconsin food (suggestions below!), and take a walk down State Street for some cute shops!
Suggested Eats in walkable distance to the Market:
Stella's Bakery (at the market): the best cheesy jalapeno bread you will ever eat!
Cheese Curds: Make sure to try some cheese curd samples while you're there!
Parthenon Gyros: A Miller family favorite
Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream: The best Ice Cream Shop in the United States, according to Hailey:)
Ian's Pizza: Yummy pizza by the slice!
Please Note: UW Madison graduation is on Saturday the 10th, so you may want to visit the farmer's market earlier in the morning rather than later to avoid the crowds.
Please also Note: Downtown Madison is still worth visiting even if you cannot make it to the market on Saturday.
Door County is one of the most beautiful places in the Midwest. If you have an open day before the wedding, we highly suggest taking the trip up to the "thumb" of Wisconsin.
Things to do:
Cave Point County Park - take a walk along the beautiful Lake Michigan coast. You won't believe that you're in Wisconsin!
Whitefish Dunes State Park - It may not be warm enough to swim here in May, but checking out the beautiful clear water beach is still worth it!
Sister Bay, Door County:
Go to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant - The restaurant with swedish pancakes and goats on the roof! aljohnsons.com
If you're lucky you'll even get to see someone mowing the roof.
There are lot of cute gift shops and a beach in Sister Bay.

Devil's Lake State Park is about an hour and a half drive from Oconomowoc.
There are lots of fun hikes and beautiful scenery at this park!
This was Nick's favorite stop in his trips to Wisconsin.
The most important stop to make in Wisconsin! There is a Culver's in almost every town in Wisconsin so you can't miss it!
Nick's go-to order: Double Cheeseburger Value Basket with everything on it, fries, and a concrete mixer instead of the drink.
Hailey's go-to order: A cheeseburger kid's meal with the works, fries, a chocolate milk, and chocolate ice cream with hot fudge on it!
Delicious pizza and fried chicken buffet!
