Our story starts back in high school. We knew each other, we were friends, had the same friend group. Had hung out from time to time but we wouldn’t consider each other close friends. Once we had graduated we didn't really hang out. MAYBE once afterwards? It seemed as if our lives had changed and we had gone our separate ways. Once friends now turned into strangers.
BUT THEN, 2022, July 3rd I was sitting outside watching my cousins light fireworks and out of the blue I (Jen) decided to text Nick on Instagram ( Pretty smooth move sliding into his DMs if you ask me). AND Oh boy was he hesitant on not hanging out that night, but I was able to convince him to come over for the 4th and celebrate with us.
After that, the rest is history….
JUUUST KIDDING, we had kept in closer touch after the 4th. I had moved into a new place with my sister and THANK THE LORD for his tallness and patience. He helped paint, fix, and even kill a nest of wasps... twice. We went on a hike together, state fair, bowling, church together… you know all the usual friend things people do. Seemed like everyone else but us knew what was going on. Talk about a big elephant in the room right?
It wasn't until December 3rd; I was with my parents, in the kitchen, when he called me and said, “We need to talk”. Great choice of words to say to an overthinker…. It had been raining and continued drizzling that night, so perfect weather for bad news too. Any who, I went outside and got into the car once he drove up. My heart racing, I swear I could hear my heart pounding thinking to myself. ”Oh no he’s about to dump our friendship, was it something I said? Or did?” Nick is over in his seat looking like he's about to deliver bad news.
AND THEN BOOM! I was wrong. He asked me out! FINALLY, no more big elephant!
Have you ever had that feeling when you do something, or go somewhere and it just feels right? Like it was supposed to happen, like everything you did just kept bringing you back to it, like it was meant to be? Well that wasn’t us.
JUST KIDDING
Funny right!
Don't worry. The story is almost over
November 19, 2023. It was a Sunday. The day was gloomy, windy, raining on and off…. we had planned to go take pictures that day. So we went to lunch after church, decided maybe the rain would stop, but it didn’t. Nick still wanted to take pictures despite the pouring rain outside. I did not want to take pictures. His brother even tried telling me to go, but instead he ended up taking me home. Once I was home, I went to change into comfy clothes and when I went back out to the living room there he was. Down on one knee, holding a ring, asking me to marry him.
The End!
