James 1:3-4
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Patience, there is nothing more frustrating in the moment than trying to be patient and to wait for the right situation to present itself. However, there is also nothing more fulfilling than when patience is rewarded. Everyone always wants to take time and matters into their own hands and run on their clock, but God always has different ideas. We waited 35 years, hoping, praying, and pleading with God to bring us the right one. They never did, until we met each other that first time.
From the first moment we met, we were asking friends who the other was, sharing a mutual interest, but failing to reach out to each other. God opened the door, but we failed to act. So then God decided to take matters into his own hands. A few months after our first initial interaction, we were brought together by happenstance on a Friday night, then again on a Saturday. Still, both of us were afraid to take the step. At this point, God must have been getting annoyed with us, so he again brought us together that following Monday through a mutual friend, neither of us knew the other was going to be there. It wasn't until we had a moment alone at Nicolas's office that we truly realized what we had each found in each other. Amila came over to look at extra office furniture and what should have been a quick meeting, turned into hours, the hours turned into days, the days grew into months, and now those months have brought us to our forever.
We both have had a long road and experienced bumps and bruises along the way. At times we were impatient and grew frustrated, thinking we'd never find love, but we never settled. Our faith was tested, beaten, but never broken. God has rewarded this patience and made us whole. Thank you to the family and friends who have supported us, loved us, and helped us through our darkest days. It was through your guidance that we were able to have the patience to be here today.
Love,
Nicolas & Amila
