How We Met

We met online in April 2023 in one of those perfectly timed, almost cinematic moments. Josh was already on the plane dealing with a maintenance delay when Nic messaged and said, “I’m actually the pilot at the gate next to you.”

Nic had looked up Josh’s flight on his computer, saw the delay, and joked that if it canceled, we should grab a drink. The flight didn’t cancel… but something between us definitely started that day.

From that moment until we met in person, we blew up each other’s phones, texting nonstop, getting to know one another, and feeling a connection grow faster than either of us expected.

Our First Adventures

Two weeks later, Nic flew to Salt Lake City to meet Josh. We went to dinner, laughed about the risks of meeting a stranger from the internet, and stayed awake all night talking. The next day, Josh took Nic up to the top of the mountains, showing off Salt Lake City from above.

Two weeks after that, Josh visited Dallas, and Nic returned the favor by taking Josh up to the top of Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas. Two different skylines, same feeling: we couldn’t get enough of each other.

Long Distance & Alignment

For four months, we lived on FaceTime, grabbing every spare minute to talk, laugh, and learn each other’s worlds. We were complete opposites in so many ways. Josh is the chill one, Nic is the energizer bunny, Josh is emotional, Nic is logical — but together, everything felt balanced and easy.

Then the universe did its thing. A job Josh was interested in opened up in Dallas and in July of 2023, long-distance became a thing of the past when Josh drove over 30 hours to start his new job and more importantly bringing him closer to Nic.

The Moment Everything Changed

During a work trip Nic took Josh on, we ended up in Raleigh. There, in a quiet moment, Josh looked into Nic’s eyes and realized he was in deep trouble; because he had fallen in love in a way he didn’t even know was possible. And Nic felt it too he didn't know how to explain it. It was simple, grounding, and absolutely life-altering.

Us Today

We love traveling, cooking together, playing video and card games, and building a life where adventure and comfort always coexist. We’re stubborn, sometimes opinionated, definitely different, but we bring out the best in each other and bring peace to each other in the chaos.

Who would've guessed a delayed flight, a message sent at the right moment, mountains, towers, and a whole lot of FaceTime later…
