Our Story

How We Met

Picture of How We Met

Adrien and I met while in school at the University of Georgia during our sophomore year at the Catholic Center. He showed up to the first indoor soccer game of the season, and I was intrigued by the cute, funny guy who was terrible at soccer. He vastly improved over the season, and I made up excuses to banter or talk to him after our games. One night in a dining hall, we bumped into each other and “accidentally” stayed up until 5am talking. After a month of flirting, he finally asked me on a date and after a few months of dating, I knew he wasn’t going anywhere. I had never dated anyone who cared for me the way he did or led me to aspire for more. We bring out the best in each other, and Adrien has challenged me to grow as a person in such a beautiful way. I am reminded every day of Christ and His love for me through Adrien’s love for me. He’s gentle, kind, loving, funny, and the calm to my storm. I am excited to have you witness us enter into this Sacrament and begin our lives together!

———

Nicole and I met in the spring of our sophomore year at one of the student dinners that was held after every Sunday evening mass at UGA. I can distinctly remember this beautiful girl in a blue dress that I had never met before walking up to my friend to talk to him about intramural sports; she was in a rush, so we were only briefly introduced. I thought she was really cute, but I figured I didn’t have a chance. Little did I know, a few weeks later I would be dragged to an indoor soccer game right after our softball game, only to embarrass myself in front of that same cute girl with my lack of preparation. I spent the rest of the semester trying to make up for that first impression and was apparently successful enough to get a first date, despite her not remembering the first time we met. We only had six weeks of dating before we both left the state (or country) for the summer, but I knew in my gut that she was the one. Fast forward three years and I am so grateful for Nicole. She has helped me to grow so much in my relationship with the Lord through her own beautiful example and through her constant encouragement. She is spontaneous, joyful, a fantastic friend, gentle, patient, wacky, funny, and beautiful, and I couldn’t ask for a better woman to be my wife.
