What is the difference between the Selection side and Coral Level?
We are hoping all of our guests will relax and unwind on the Coral Level side of Iberostar Cancun. Coral Level is the adults only side and staying on this side, you will have access to an adults only infinity pool, beachside snack bar, a pool and beach bar and La Barca restaurant. You also have access to the entire resort (the rest of the pools, beach and all the other restaurants/bars) in addition to updated rooms and elevated experiences.
What is the difference between each room level?
All rooms on the Coral Level side are ocean front and have the same layout. The Junior Suite Ocean Front rooms are the lower level rooms, but you will still have an ocean view! Panoramic rooms are higher up and offer more of a view! The corner rooms have balconies on both sides! The roof top suites have private swim out infinity jacuzzis, the only difference being the middle rooms vs. the corner (more private). No matter what level room, you will have an amazing trip with amazing views!
Do we have to book through the travel agent?
Although not required, at a minimum, we highly recommend booking at least your stay through Bruce Mandel of Longwood Travel. This way, you will get the discounted rates and be in our room block.
How does transportation to/from the airport work?
Transportation is included with the cost of your stay! Bruce will arrange the transportation for you through Amstar once your flights are booked. Please feel free to reach out to him with question! When you exit the airport in Cancun, there will be tons of people/taxi services offering rides. Ask anyone where the Amstar booth is (or look for people in blue shirts with flowers on them) and proceed there (believe it’s number 43). Once there, let them know your names and that you’re staying at the Coral Level of Iberostar and they will have a record of you so you DO NOT need to pay. The hotel is only about 10-15 minutes away! When leaving, after you checkout, the staff will take you and your bags via golf cart to the front of the Selection resort and you will get transportation to the airport from there.
What to expect upon check-in?
At check-in, you should be greeted with a welcome goodie bag from the bride & groom! If you are not, please let Nicole & Matt know ASAP so they can get one to you! You will also want to make dinner reservations!! Iberostar Cancun is working to make all restaurants not require reservations, so this may change. In addition, you may be asked to sit through a short presentation. If you’d like to do this, you can get a private breakfast as well as a gift like free massages, but you can also politely decline!
Do we need reservations for dinner?
The hotel has been working towards no restaurants requiring reservations. Right now, only hibachi requires a reservation and you can make those when you check in! La Barca (located on the Coral Level property for Coral guest only) offers a breakfast and lunch buffet and they serve dinner each night. There is also a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the Selection side. The Mexican restaurant on the Selection side serves a platter style dinner and serves burgers at lunch. There is also an Italian restaurant, steakhouse and American style bistro. The beach side lunch spot on the Coral Level is also another great spot to grab a bite to eat while hanging out by the pool or on the beach!
What should we wear to the Welcome Cocktail Hour?
On Friday night, we plan to have a Welcome Cocktail Hour with music, hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails to welcome all of our friends and family who came to celebrate us! We are hoping for this to be a fun luau theme since we are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon! Bright or floral sundresses for women and tropical collared shirts for men are highly encouraged!
What is the attire for the wedding day?
The ceremony will be held on the beach, so be prepared to walk on sand. The cocktail hour and reception will be held on or adjacent to the beach on grass. We recommend wearing comfortable, semi-formal attire. Simple sundresses for women and shorts/pants with a collared shirt or suit jacket are acceptable for men.
Are kids allowed?
Although we love your little ducklings, we ask that you take this opportunity to relax just you and your spouse. Coral Level is the adults only side of the Iberostar Cancun and children under the age of 18 are not allowed. If you need to bring your children, you must stay on the Selection side of the resort and will not have access to Coral Level pools or restaurants unless you pay a daily upgrade fee. Children are not allowed on the Coral Level side even if the adults are paying the upgrade fee.
Is the resort/Cancun safe?
The US State Department has assessed Cancun as one of the safest places for tourists in Mexico! The resort is completely safe and so is the Hotel Zone of Cancun. The resort is a short 5 minute walk to the Cancun public beach with the Cancun letters if you want to take a picture. Like any place, use caution at night and stick together if you choose to leave the resort. If you plan any excursions or want to leave the resort, use the concierge to book a ride!
Necessities to pack?
SUNSCREEN! Nicole is tanner than all of you and she will be wearing SPF 30! The Caribbean sun is no joke! Sunscreen, bug spray and toiletries tend to be expensive in Mexico, so definitely pack what you need! Otherwise, swimsuits, some outfits for dinners and activities and your wedding attire are all you need! Don't forget sunglasses!
How are the drinks?
All-inclusive drinks have a tendency to be a bit weaker than some people like. Ask for a double if you like it stronger! If you like fruity drinks that don't taste too much like alcohol, buckle up and ignore this piece of advice! Their mudslides were great!!
Do we need to tip?
Tips are technically included in the all-inclusive cost. In our experience, gratuity is greatly accepted and appreciated at the bars and restaurants. We recommend bringing small bills if you would like to tip the hardworking staff members and bartenders throughout your stay.
