For years we lived parallel lives. We attended college just 3 miles apart and also started our professional work on Longwood Ave in Boston, our start dates just weeks apart from each other. Eventually we were introduced by a mutual friend who thought we might make a nice couple. One of us had full knowledge of this set-up, one of us did not. We enjoyed each other’s company, and became friends. Much to the dismay our friend, we continued to spend time together within a larger friend group, but never spent time together, just the two of us.

One fateful evening, we made plans to meet up to celebrate both of our birthdays. What started as a toast to turning a year older, turned into a serendipitous first date.

One year later, Joe asked Nicole a question, and this rest is history!
