Steven and I met through the dating app- Hinge. Our first date was at BJ's Brewhouse followed by a movie. Before the movie, Steven suggested we walk to the mall and get Asian Chow. He claimed he was related to them-and he was not lying. We then snuck some Asian Chow into the movie theater. After that we started going on more dates and here we are, six years later!
Over the years we learned that our paths may have crossed prior to meeting online. In 2018 I completed an internship in Colorado Springs. At the same time Steven was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. In October, 2023 we went back to Colorado to explore the area together. We found out that we had only lived about 10 minutes apart.
I was convinced Steven was going to propose in Colorado Springs (and so did all of my close friends). As most of you know that did not end up happening. Steven later told me that his original plan was to propose during our trip. Turns out, his friend who was supposed to take pictures at the top of the Manitou Incline got his weekends mixed up.
It all turned out for the better because a couple of months later Steven worked with my one MOH Kelly to pull off a surprise proposal. Kelly took her role seriously. The night he proposed she was waiting outside Debonne winery wearing a wig so that I wouldn't recognize her.
Steven had originally told me he wanted to go out for an early birthday celebration dinner. As we were walking up the steps-Steven stopped and got down on one knee. Kelly videoed the whole thing in her disguise. Steven then went a step further and had our close family and friends waiting in a party room to celebrate.
We both agreed to a longer engagement, but now we are becoming so excited that our big day will be here soon!
