Trevin and his friends were going ice skating, and decided it would be fun for everyone to bring a date. Trevin by chance found Nicole's twitter account, and thought she looked fun to take out. Trevin messaged Nicole and they started messaging back and forth. He later asked her to be his date ice skating at the Galivan Center and Nicole said yes! We bonded immediately. We talked about our favorite food (burgers and fries obviously), our shared love in comedy movies, and how much we love staying active. Our first date went so well, Trevin asked me on our second date the very next day, and we went to the Zoo Lights. Since we met during the peek of the Holiday season we joined each others family festivities and bonded on all of the yummy sweet treats and fun Christmas movies.
Did you fall in love on a trip somewhere? Was it love at first sight? Who said it first or did you both just know?
Nicole's Story: I think I was immediately intrigued by Trevin. I thought he was so funny, so handsome, and from the beginning his presence was comforting and felt like home. I remember sometime during the first year dating he invited me over for dinner at his house, and when I got there he had decorated with roses, and candles, and had my favorite song playing. He got me a book that I had been dying to read. I immediately started crying, just because I felt like he actually listened to me and took the time to make me feel special. I think that was the Ah Ha moment, and I knew that this was someone I truly cared for, and loved deeply.
Trevin's Story: There wasn't a specific time that I knew. I just knew that every day kept getting better and better. We always kept pushing each other to reach our goals, we created a fun routine, and all in all life was just better with Nicole. Everything we did and do together is enjoyable, and fun. It just seemed like we were better together.
There were multiple times we went ring shopping. We went to New York in 2022 and went ring shopping there which was such a memorable experience. One reason being we had to leave the ring appointment early because Trevin had kidney stones (not funny while it happened, but super funny to look back on).
Nicole's Story: After being together for over 6 years, I was somewhat expecting a proposal. So every vacation we went on I was thinking "This is the time!" But when it didn't happen I knew I had to keep dropping subtle hints on my Pinterest Board.
When the proposal finally happened, Trevin told me he was taking me to a fun event, and to go pick out a cute dress and meet him back home later that evening. I ended up finding a dress with my mom. I got home and started getting ready, but Trevin wasn't home. So I ended up sitting on the couch in pajamas with my hair all done and makeup done waiting for Trevin. My dad ended up knocking on the door and said I'm taking you somewhere hurry and get ready! I had no idea what was going on. I threw on my dress and left with my dad. He didn't say where we were going other than he had to stop at the Mercedes Benz store downtown. This was all a little plan to make me not suspect that he would be dropping me off at the Grand America Hotel right across the street. Trevin came and got me in the lobby and I still wasn't thinking anything about being proposed to. So as we walked in the hotel room I just kicked off my shoes and was getting ready to sit back and relax. Little did I know around the corner would be a hotel suite decked out in roses, balloons, and decorations. It was the most perfect proposal I could have ever asked for.
Trevin's Story: I was planning a proposal for quite some time. I was trying to find the "perfect moment", which seems easy in theory but was more difficult than originally expected. About 11 months prior, I had gone ring shopping with family and friends. At the place we went to, I found the perfect ring with all the specs Nicole looked for when we were in New York. Trying to disguise the ring had many challenges. A few being, the ring shop gave us water bottles, and chocolates, which we almost ended up leaving in the car, and kept getting mail sent to our house with the jewelry store name on it, so I had to keep throwing the mail out so she didn't see or suspect anything. Months later, I finally found the "perfect" moment to propose. For 2 weeks I was gathering materials and coming up with a plan. My mom was a big help in the process of the proposal, she helped me decorate the hotel suite beforehand. Nicole's dad brought her to the front steps of the Grand America Hotel and was also a huge help in maintaining secrecy. After she was dropped off I brought her up to the suite on the top floor, with a stunning view, and Christmas lights that lit up the city. At that time, I got on my knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes ;).
