Rick and Nicoles love story began at Northern Illinois University, where a spark ignited between them. Though they were at different points in their lives and the timing wasn’t right, they continued to stay connected, awkwardly liking each other’s posts and pictures over the next three years.
Fate intervened when Ricks mom got remarried and chose to celebrate the wedding on the Odyssey Chicago River, where Nicole happened to be working at the time. It was there that Rick and Nicole reconnected. Encouraged by Steves daughters, who were unaware of Nicoles long-standing crush on Rick since their days at NIU, Rick decided to message her.
With the help of Snapchat, their connection grew stronger as they talked every day.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rick invited Nicole to go on vacation. Initially planning to go to Hawaii, they quickly adapted their plans to spend a week in Arizona when they realized Hawaii was shut down.
Their Arizona adventure was filled with unforgettable experiences: goat yoga, a sunrise hot air balloon ride, mountain biking, and an impromptu trip to witness a stunning sunset at the Grand Canyon. This magical vacation solidified their bond, and they began dating immediately after.
Nicole soon moved to North Carolina to be with Rick, and together they now share a home with their two beloved cats, Peebs and Tunechi. Their journey, marked by serendipity and adventure, has brought them to this beautiful day, where they celebrate their love and commitment to each other alongside their family and friends!
