This love story started with a message in the early hours of the morning. Verona was on night shift and Niki was up, unable to sleep because she was sick. Some brief, chance, online messages quickly grew into never ending FaceTime dates, when both should have been sleeping.

Verona made the drive up to Kelowna for what would be the first of many long drives for much too short visits. It quickly became apparent that this was something special and after Niki finished school she moved to Nanaimo.

Shortly thereafter, they hopped into the van (and then the car) to set off on a 5-week road trip through The Yukon and Alaska together. What Niki didn’t realize is that those weeks together were what convinced Verona that she had, without a doubt, found her co-pilot for life.

Niki popped the question over beer flights in a tasting room and Verona said yes. They made strangers cry into their beer!

Since then, a lot has happened. Separate homes have been sold and a few moves have taken place. Finally, they bought their first home together. But before moving, they look forward to getting married and spending their first year of married bliss celebrating, travelling and renovating and beginning the next chapter of happily ever after.
