Nicole and John's Wedding

John and Nicole met through mutual friends and frequented the same bar, Barnabys in Ridley. John spent months running into Nicole at the bar and asking her each time to go out on a date with him. Nicoles answer stubbornly remainded the same, no. John swore he would wear her down and recalls telling his friend AJ he would marry her one day, despite her reluctance. Then, a Memorial Day camping trip with friends forced Nicole to see John in a new light- a weekend their friends later called “the weekend that changed everything.” Fast forward a year later, John and Nicole had purchased a home in Norwood, PA and welcomed their first baby, a 7-weeks premature Alexander Thomas. The couple had an emotional ride as their 4 lb baby laid in the hospital NICU. Nicole frequently recalls being able to touch him for the first time after 2 days. This struggle strengthened their bond as they were thrown into premature parenthood. A month to the day he was born, Alexander came home and just like that they were a family of 3. Just two years later their family grew with the edition of their lucky fin Francis Joseph. Francis surprised everyone at his 6 month in-utero scan where the family found out their perfect baby boy would have a limb difference. Yet again, their partnership grew as they spent the next few months wondering how life would change...reading, learning, and researching about the amazing lives of those with limb differences. With each phase of life, John and Nicole have stood side by side in support of each other in any way and every way the other needed. COVID, hospital visits, home schooling, job loss, family loss, grief, broken bones, good days, bad days, and everything in between, the couple continued to thrive. As time ticked on, 10 years had passed... birthdays, christenings, school functions, parties, holidays... marriage was the last thing on everyones mind, except for John. John had a plan at Christmas, New Years, and Nicoles Birthday but sickness would get in the way of it all. During an OHara family birthday celebration on January 18, 2025, John ensured all of Nicoles family members and his own were present before she blew out her birthday candles and he got down on one knee. The response? No. No. No? Wait Really? YES!-quite like the start of their relationship. The couple will Wed in September 2025.
