Nicole and Paul met on New Year's Eve 2022. They were downtown Stillwater at Brian's Bar gathering together to celebrate the new year with their blended friend groups. Nicole's college roommate and best friend, Clara, who is from Rochester, was there with her boyfriend, Austin. Austin is also from Rochester and is friends with Paul through high school. Austin had invited Paul, and Clara had invited Nicole to this night out.

Paul and Nicole met each other briefly that evening but didn't think twice about it at the time because....they were both there with other dates! Thankfully, both of their dates didn't work out!!

Fast forward to the Super Bowl in 2023 where their two friend groups were reunited once again for a celebration (thanks to Clara and Austin.) Little did Paul and Nicole both know, Clara and Austin were working behind the scenes to plant small seeds in both of their minds in the hopes that they could set them up. Clara and Austin both knew before Paul and Nicole did of just how great they would be together. And boy, were they right! Paul and Nicole talked quite a bit during the Super Bowl party, which led to Paul inviting Nicole down to Rochester for a winter carnival. From that moment on, the rest is history.

Paul then asked Nicole on their first official date to a speakeasy in St. Paul where they talked for hours. Since that date, they have spent most of their time together hiking with their dogs, Kai and Elsa, boating on the St. Croix River, golfing (or in Nicole's case, being the golf cart driver), vacationing in Florida, cooking fun meals, and trying new restaurants.

On Dec 7th, 2024, Paul proposed to Nicole. They went on a walk with the dogs through The Royal Golf Club course. Paul knew it would be sentimental to propose there because they spend much of their summers golfing there and Nicole's parents live on the course, so it holds a special place in their hearts. Paul led Nicole to the patio that overlooks the lake, where he got down on one knee.

Paul and Nicole cannot wait to start their future together. They both knew early on that they had found their person. They look forward to celebrating their new life together with faith, family, and friends.
