Is there a place to stay close to the wedding venue?
There is lodging in the cities and towns nearby via Airbnb, hotels, Sue Meg Campground etc. but there is not much directly in Moonstone. Please see the Lodging section for more details.
Are the kids/baby welcome?
Yes! We're happy to see everyone at the wedding!
Please note that the wedding is on the beach (the Pacific ocean is cold and not a swim-friendly body of water) and the venue is located adjacent to an active public beach access point and all children will need to have adult supervision the entire time.
What if it's raining the day of the wedding?
Especially in Humboldt there's always a possibility that there will be rain, fog, wind, etc. (and it can change on a dime) if the weather turns on the big day we will bring the ceremony into the venue site. https://www.moonstone-beach.com/
We advise everyone to check the weather forecast, bring a jacket/wrap and sand friendly shoes!
I'm not familiar with Humboldt, what is there to do?
There's a lot to do, especially if you like the outdoors! There are some beautiful local Redwood trails to check out (Justin is a great resource for these), the coastline is gorgeous (be cautious undertow/rip currents are common), agate hunting (super fun), the Sequoia Zoo has a Redwood SkyWalk and there are local kayak rentals available among other things!
Any good restaurants?
Yes! A few of our favorites are Campground (steaks), Renatas (amazing crepes), Larrupin' Cafe, Seascape (Fish n Chips), Lighthouse Grill (mashed potatoes in a cone), Trinidad Bay Eatery, Oaxaca Grill (try the garlicky shrimp), Sushi Spot (fresh sushi), Cocina Mariposa, and you can get fantastic made-to-order sandwiches at the North Coast Co-op - Arcata.
What's the weather like?
The North Coast is a temperate, semi-chilly section of Northern California. In May a lot of the rainy season has passed but never say never! Fog is common as well. We recommend light layers. For general sightseeing or beachtime consider long pants, sunscreen (fog burn!), sunglasses, etc. Also highly recommend frequently checking the weather forecast as things can take a turn quickly!
