Nicole and Matt first met as 18-year-old incoming freshmen at the Arizona State Honors Business Camp where they were placed into the same small group. While at camp, Matt had only met Nicole but knew that she had an identical twin sister. For the subsequent 3 years, he intentionally avoided her around campus to save any embarrassment of mixing them up.
However, in their junior year they had a famously difficult accounting class together, where again, they were part of a small study group, but this time, sparks flew. They officially began dating during their senior year and the rest is history. They graduated together in the spring of 2017, thus beginning their 4+ year long-distance journey. The two spent any weekend they could flying back and forth between Phoenix, Salt Lake and New York. Finally, in 2021 they were able to put an end to their long-distance relationship and made the decision to move to Santa Monica…TOGETHER…where they currently reside with their horse, Bodi, and two dogs, Belle and Booker.
In early 2022, Matt & Nicole made a pact that if they got a Golden Retriever (Matt’s spirit animal) that year, that Matt would have to propose by the end of the year. They spent the next few months applying and interviewing with multiple golden rescues in southern California to no avail. Finally, one night in April while Matt was out of the country with his family, he received a long text from Nicole in the middle of the night that she had put a deposit down, and was en-route to pick up the 8-week old puppy from a local rescue, that came to be named Booker.
On December 29th of 2022, after 6 long years, and 2 days before the end of the year (and expiration of the pact), Matt finally got down on one knee in Santa Barbara to ask Nicole to marry him, surrounded by family and friends (despite Matt’s detailed planning and secrecy, Nicole’s infamous sleuthing skills prevailed…partially).
Nicole and Matt now welcome you, as their closest family and friends, to celebrate their love and marriage with them in Arizona on November 2nd, 2024.
